Taking out my new car and getting on it for the first time. Learned alot about the car and will be posing more videos of mods and driving as i go along. Im really into the car scene so send me a message if you like to talk about cars.

Nice ride, sounds healthy! I got one of those too, she needs some love but man is it a great ride, pretty quick too. Definitely need an exhaust job on mine

+KKoerner Thanx! Its the EJ205. Same as the wrx but with milder cam profile for more low end trourqe, and also a smaller turbo; Mitsubishi TF035!

Hi, that steering wheel looks amazingly good. Do you have any info on it? Or maybe where to buy it? Edit: Forgot to add, the car looks amazig in that color and by the looks of it, it drives good, looks sharp and diret. Will probably buy one like this in black color next week.

thanx man, project is at a stand still right now, but in a month there will be some handling upgrades, STi takeoffs and jdm sti v7 wheels with semi slicks on with some videos to follow!

did you find the steering to be light? I drove one for the first time today and it felt really light. Is this common for Subarus? I'm used to a mk4 vw rack which is a lot firmer (which I prefer)

TheMausymaus this rack is for offroad use, if you have the huge stock steering wheel on on top of that, yes it will be pretty light. The ratio is crap, 19:1 so it's gotta go anyway if your serious about driving it any kinds of fast. Get the Sti rack for it 03-04 fits right in or get the 05-06 to gather with the newer subframe and those two together fit, then you get the feel and the response for driving fast. Remember the forester was designed as a Jeep and would have been terrible with heavy steering, it does exactly what it was intended for.

TheMausymaus 98-2006 foresters are all built on the impreza base chassie plate, and use the ej20 turbo engine but with milder cams and a weaker tune. All running gear can be shaped from the wrx and most things from the Sti. This said, it's still a different car model, so suspension has longer travel and softer ride, front suspension is spaced up to get the car off the ground more, the same goes for the gearbox and rear axels. The transmission also ha a LSD center diff for better traction offroad unlike the wrx or Sti, and the steering ratio is a lot slower than the imprezas since that is what you want in an offroad scenario. Change out a few of these things for Sti parts and tune it, and it preformed nearly as well as the imprezas only slightly more top heavy but not much.

Thanks for the info. Maybe it was something wrong with that car? It felt super light to me in the Forester. I drove a second generation Outback today which was at least twice as firm on steering and braking, and it's got double the miles. Could the Forester have been thrashed? The alignment was also WAY off.

TheMausymaus if alignment is off this could in some circumstances make the steering lighter than stock, and also make the car handle really unnatural and bad. A car that has totally off alignment has either been in a crash, or has had major part replacement like control arm or shocks, without readjusting alignment, witch would be very care less.

Does the car handle like a wrx or it's a bit like a tank? You can start a little drift going on the gas early? (Sorry for my bad english) With some mods it can be better than a celica st185 in your opinion?

I would say that it is pretty close to a wrx! the sf5 is a little higher off the ground than the wrx and also has a little softer suspension so it has more body roll! BUT, the balance of the car, the "turn-in" and the weight transfer is really good and predictable making it easy to push it hard. you can not drift a normal wrx with just by accelerating and turning on normal road, you need atleast 300 horsepower, but probably alot more to do it on a road that is as fast as the one in this clip. but I sometimes slide in the corners when going in high speed or when turning into a corner and breaking so it is very beautifully balanced. I have 2005 sti suspension in the garage that I will be installing together with sti wheels and some tuning in a few months, will post build progress and some track movies.

I have not driven the celica st185 only older ones, but they are also very good cars. I think the st185 has more understeer than the forester stock witch is not so nice. but with new springs, thicker rear anti roll bar and some good tires it's a really good car. also stainless downpipe and exhaust and some advanced timing will get you a nice trackday car. altho with the sf5 you can put a bigger turbo and remap and get atleast 260 and even up to 300 hp with not mutch work. also if you change camshaft, you can get alot more, sf5 turbo engine can handle 350hp with stock internals.

Thanks for the answer. I like the fact that you can exchange the parts with the impreza but i'm still not convinced by the big "boxy" shape.. Here in italy i can find a turbo s 170cv for less than 2000 euro Last question, what about fuel economy?

+Nemanja Matovič haha, almost! No i just thought it was super ugly and it did not work very well either. I am going to install a nexus 7 tablet instead. Have not done so mutch to the car now but in a couple of months i will be tuning it a little more and installing complete impreza convertion on the suspension with STI takeoffs and compound racing tyres. Going for 200bhp to begin with. So stay tuned. Love the SF5 cars!

What exhaust are you running?

it's just a full 3" stainless turbo back ebay exhaust for the gc8 that have been extended and slightly modified to fit. exhaust is no rocket science and as long as the welds are good and it fits ok, and it's stainless, you can't really go wrong. this sounds really good, no way near too loud but still plenty groaty. one thing to note, is that the s-turbo or gt or NA, never will sound as "sharp" as the STi or wrx, but a tad more muffled and dark due to the cam times being a bit more restrictive.
