Fair warning, this episode is full of feminine rage. Because if anything warrants ranting and raging, it’s Mormon bishop stories. We focus today on the sex-related stuff- inappropriate worthiness interviews, creepy modesty callouts and a whole lot of sex shaming. Because if Mormon bishops have one thing, it’s the audacity.

Yeeeessss the whole “tell me everything you’ve ever done even if you repented” totally traumatized me. My entire mission I was thinking… what if I missed something? What if I forgot some small detail I was supposed to repent of but didnt. What if I’m not really worthy to be here. That interview of mine was at BYU too and I’d never even met the man. Every other interview I had had always felt like it was coming from a place of love but that interview felt so cold and dark and wrong. I hated it.

Wow, I’m sure it’s because I’m a man, but I was never asked to confess again for all sexual acts I committed before leaving on a mission. Only “unresolved sins”. I’m so sorry!

You're painting Mormon bishops as a stereotype of one size fit all. There are good bishops and those that are overzealous wingnuts. It is today in 2023 frowned upon to do interviews with young women asking them sexual questions. I remember a friend in the late 70s who was dating a mormon. The bishop would ask him questions like "how far did you go?" or "do you masturbate?" That line of questioning is no longer supposed to be used.
