Big Baits For Big Fish!

Another day fishing in paradise!! I was running off the back of an idea I'd had the night before, the old theory on using bigger lures to weed out the smaller fish, and it come through with some quality on the jig in nice and close. The jig I used was an 80g Palms Jigaro Speed Slide which is quite a unique jig that has a deadly slow fall, and a super wide walking action on the retrieve in an extra large, long profile for its weight. They're a new offering from the Palms stable which is starting to make its way into stores now...

Always a good day Island hopping mate. Can imagine that it'd definitely cop more than it's fair share of boat traffic during peak periods. Tight lines mate.

Yeah mate they do both, I’m running the blue mirror XL Guides choice offshore and the copper glass riptides for estuary and freshwater.

Nah mate I’m stoked with this thing! When I go bigger I’ll get a contender but I’ll keep the Haines and the tinny… I just need a much bigger shed 😂

Hey Mick this is off topic, but I'm going to complete angler tomorrow to get some new line put on me 3000 vanford. I want to go probably 20lb. Would you recommend castaway on a spin reel or just stick with ADV? Or any other recommendations ? I use castaway on me baitcasters but haven't had it on a spin yet. Just thought I'd ask your opinion mate. Cheers 👍🏻🎣

Sorry mate I missed this one, yeah castaway is good on spin reels too! It’s coarse and zippy through the guides but it has that abrasion resistance that it’s renowned for!

It’s a 4 strand braid and it’s quite coarse which is why it’s so zippy through the guides. It’s not that brutal in real life the mic just picks the sound up more but it’s noticeable how well the 4 strand cuts through the water better compared with an 8 strand, allowing me to stay over the top of a lighter jig for longer.. if it didn’t have such an advantage I wouldn’t bother but it is worth it 👌🏻
