Part 2 of our 7 day Great Barrier Reef charter is here, while the weather didn’t play the game and allow us to get out off the hard line, we still had an epic time fishing the reef in luxury 200km offshore where not many people can get to. Big hookups on unknown species and GTs harassing our fish as we brought them in adding to the excitement!

Went on a 8day in june i had heeps of fun with the jigs highly recomend elizabeth e 2 you get looked after,great crew.

Lovely vid , good on ya dad, too,one thing I must say after being on the EE2, for fishing, your captain did not put you on any big red fish spots, red emperor, Nannie’s?? EE2 has all the marks locally for that

Yeah nah we went out a lot further than usual and we did go and fish the red and nanny grounds but the wind was too strong for drift fishing and it was rough out in the deep water between the reefs. It wasn’t the captains wrong doing just crap weather!

Hi Mick, what Shimano 1500 HG Gold reel is that? I haven’t seen that model before. Cheers Marty.

It’s a 2014 limited 1500HG, there weren’t all that many made and they were preorder only back in 2013/14 when slow pitch was just a gaining traction in Japan. Very hard to find at a reasonable price these days. I bought mine on preorder back in 2013 and it’s now copped 10 years of punishment 👌🏻💪🏻

Ah okay, I thought you may have been testing a new reel. I see the charter you were on doesn't use tenders. I think that would have been frustrating just fishing off a mother ship. Mind you when I fished in Vanuatu with Ocean Blue we caught bugger all of any interest. Talk about the land of a thousand casts, more like ten thousand, and blowing 20+ knots every day. We were on a Contender 32 Centre console. I would go back to Vanuatu but not to fish. We even had Andrea Traverso on the boat, before he left to start his own charter business. Cheers, Marty.
