Use a propane torch when seasoning and you can get the entire grill and sides nice and black. Drinking a few beers while doing so helps too!

Awesome looking breakfast Mike, looks like you are feeding the neighborhood. Kent at Daddy Dutch BBQ told me about using bed risers for the 28", he has 5" risers and I use 7" ones. Since I don't move my Blackstone they work out perfectly and save your back a lot of pain. Can't wait to see what all you cook up on this, hope you have a wonderful week.

If you season your grill correctly when you first buy it.Your Kno your hot spot vs cool spot. It will turn black first where it's hotter. Just oil and let her burn n smoke and your see . I went from a 17 to a 28 and extra space is great . Best part is you can cook somany things on it like your inside on the stove but your house stays clean and no smell lol while all the aroma is in the air outside . Love it on the patio!! Greatness . Glad you like your grill keep cooking my friend.

I have the 17" & was thinking of upgrading to the 22". I live in a apartment on second floor. I have my 17" on the balcony. I like how portable it is for taking camping. I think this 28" would be just a bit to big for my balcony right now. But would love to have extra room on a Blackstone. But since you upgraded to it. I can live thru your cooking but I might not call you big cat 305 now. Maybe Mr. Fancy Pants 305 with your new toy LMAO just kidding. Nice video & that looked like a lot of great food. @cookingwithbigcat
@cookingwithbigcat 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jil. I have the 28" at another property that I go to once every month or two so I don't really make videos on it regularly. However so far I really like the extra real estate. It depends on how many people you are cooking for if you need the extra or not. It's funny because I am trying to decide which Blackstone to get next as well. I have made over 100 videos with the 22" and it works great for what I need (only 2 people most of the time). BUT, it helps to have the extra space. My advise would be to go for the larger unless you are looking for portability. Either way, it is an excellent product and super fun to cook on. Hope this helps!!!

Cooking with Big Cat 305 it does fold down but I did buy the 22” and it is a lot easier and lighter to handle. I can make breakfast for 2 and cook everything at once so the whole meal is hot when it hits the table. Typically I make 6 slices of bacon. Fried sliced potatoes and 3 eggs on the 22”. I am very happy with this purchase I have the 28” blackstone at home these things are simply fantastic.

Im really looking into a 28" model. After using it a bit can you give us an update on the pros and cons?
@cookingwithbigcat
@cookingwithbigcat 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks 07!! Pros: Good size cooking surface. Portable (breaks down for travel). Tank is attached to the cart so easy to move (has wheels). Although it has an opening between the surface and flame you can use stainless steel veggie choppers as wind guards. Cons: About 3-5 inches shorter than your normal cooking surface so if your tall it can hurt your back. Open area between the surface and the flame (however see above for the fix). The wheels are pretty small in diameter so rolling it through any type of terrain is not practical. Summary: The Pro's far outweigh the Cons!!! It's a good size griddle that can get the job done!!!

I have the 28" adventure ready and with the side shelf located as high as it is I'm not sure the wind guards will fit without some modifications.

That looks great Mike. I’m trying to decide between the 28 and 36. We normally don’t host too much, but when we do, it’s for groups ranging from 8 to 30 people. Is the 36 worth the extra money?

BigCat - which 28” grill would you buy if you were only going to buy one? The Adventure or the 1901?
@cookingwithbigcat
@cookingwithbigcat 2 жыл бұрын
The differences between the two are night and day, not to mention the price. It really falls down to what are your needs. If price is no object and you don't plan on taking it on the road (Adventure) than the 1901 is hands down the best choice. It's like driving a Cadillac verses driving a Honda. Nothing wrong with the Honda but it's not a Cadillac lol...

@@cookingwithbigcat - Thank you. I’ll purchase a 17” for RVing - looks like it’s the 1901. Now to decide the best time to buy it. Any idea on if and when Blackstone will come out with new models?

Does a black stone griddle take a lot of gas (more than normal grilling? ) thinking about buying one
@cookingwithbigcat
@cookingwithbigcat 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Rodney, thanks for the comment. Hard to determine because I haven't used a normal gas grill in many years. However I will tell you that I religiously cooked on the Blackstone once per week for a couple years for the channel and I would replace the tank about every 3-4 months. I will tell you they are not that expensive and a BLAST to cook on. I would go for it if I were you. Good luck!!!

So you have both the 22" & the 28". I'm looking for a Blackstone griddle to take camping to cook for a family of 4 and I think the 22" doesn't really have enough space, however I'm concerned that because the 22" and the 28" have the same burner configuration, I'm concerned with getting even heat. I feel like if the 22" has 2 burners, the 28" should have 3 burners and the 36" we know has 4 burners. What are your thoughts on this?
@cookingwithbigcat
@cookingwithbigcat 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by Jethead. I can tell you what I like about the 28" is the extra cooking space and because the burners are a little farther apart you can get the low temps. With the 22" your low setting is really like medium because the burners are closer together. It runs hot basically. What I like more about the 22" is the portability. Watch my very first video and you will see how the stand collapses and is placed inside the enclosed lid for transport. Also the legs are adjustable for uneven surfaces which on the 28" they are not. I could go on and on but both are great griddles. If you have the room to transport I would go for the 28". Hope this helps!!

Love the video. I live in Canada and was looking at getting the exact same model. Here its $479.99 + 13% tax. Ridiculous compared to U.S prices! How much are you guys spending on this model? Thanks!

Wow that's crazy. I'm almost ashamed to say but I got this one marked down because it had a little rust on the griddle top that was super easy to take off. They had it marked down to $200 and after negotiating (that's what I do) with the manager I got it down to like $117. Couldn't pass it up. Take a drive over the boarder...

Hey Mark, only 2 cooks so far on it so far. I have cooked MANY times on my 22" and you will get some splatter for sure so I am sure this one is the same. You really don't use that much oil so it's not a big deal. Thanks for watching!!

What is the piece on the bottom right side that looks like a 1/2 hinge with a spring loaded pin
@cookingwithbigcat
@cookingwithbigcat 4 жыл бұрын
It is a cotter pin but I haven't really messed with it yet. It is the Adventure Ready Series so it looks like it breaks down. I just haven't tried it yet, maybe a future video or maybe a bonus at the end of a cooking video. It looks like the legs come off and the bottom tray as well. Thanks for the questions and I'll let you know if I make the video.

I have a question I just got my griddle how many times do I have to season it with oil ? Once every couple of months or every time I cook. Also after I season it do I need to squirt some oil on it whenever I cook on it?
@cookingwithbigcat
@cookingwithbigcat 4 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the griddle. You should put a very light coat of oil while the griddle is still hot just after cleaning. This will prevent the metal from rusting and keep it ready for the next cook. It is basically a giant cast iron skillet. And depending on what you are cooking you may or may not put some oil down before you cook. If you are cooking bacon then no oil, if you are cooking eggs then yes. It all depends. Take a look at my video on how to clean and put down a little oil to keep it preserved for the next cook. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mp94mJiAv6iVmJs.html

Thanks Gary, the heat level is going to be different depending on what Blackstone you are using and the weather/wind conditions. I have 2 Blackstones and they are both different when it comes to temps in general (medium on one isn't as hot as medium on the other). Also, both have different parts of the griddle that get hotter and/or cooler. I like to cook bacon to see where the hot/cool zones are. If you keep the bacon evenly spread in lines and turn them every 3-4 minutes on medium heat you will see where the hot/cool zones are. Then you use that to your advantage when cooking to arrange your food as necessary. Also, in my opinion I rarely cook on high heat. The only time is when I am trying to seer a steak or just sauté some veggies. Hope this helps...
