Great job on this bridge/ berm...I like all of the wood features, that's something that we haven't done at the Dam Ranch.

Thanks, we hope to make a lot more wood features. We don't have many rocks to play with. Dam Ranch has some good ones of those

Absolutely, much of the wood features will have to be built in place. Getting the material and game plan is tough.

Man, that looks awesome! Great to be able to use onsite trees/wood for features. Plus , it looks like the textured wood provides a bit more traction if you have wet or muddy tires you would be sliding off most features with processed wood with a smoothe finish.

That is definitely a concern. I might still have to make some shallow rips to make sure we have a lot of grip.

Nice work, looking good. How handy is setting it out with the string like that. Really helps visualise the feature.
@mtbingadventures1551
@mtbingadventures1551 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, it helped me visualize it a lot. I used three to help with the camber and width. I think I can just use two strings next time though. The hardest part was trying to find the center point to get my radius all worked out.
@cutlaps
@cutlaps 8 ай бұрын
@@mtbingadventures1551 Yeah I used 3 as well for my feature because it was so wide. I didn't have a set radius for mine just sorted it by eye to fit it into the lanscape.

Forgive me but shouldn't you have stripped all the bark off of the support structure? From what I've gathered from watching other trail building vids, that pretty important.
@mtbingadventures1551
@mtbingadventures1551 8 ай бұрын
Yes, stripping the bark off will make the pine last much longer. It's an insane amount of work, and I'm experimenting with a wood preservative spray to keep the bugs away. I do plan on getting a tool that will strip the bark off the wood superfast.
@cutlaps
@cutlaps 8 ай бұрын
@mtbingadventures1551 let me know when you find one 😂. Theres some decent attachements for chainsaws but they dont' work on stringy bark which is what I build with. It should chew through pine no worries.
@mtbingadventures1551
@mtbingadventures1551 8 ай бұрын
@cutlaps oh man, the stringy stuff probably gets all caught up in there. The chainsaw attachment one is what I was thinking about. I've been talking to another builder and he's been saying it almost doesn't make a difference if I remove the bark or not. His biggest worryismaking contact with the ground.
