Take time with friends and family to 'depressure', grieve for the loss of your father, ignore social media and seek professional help if you need it. Then reflect back on what you've learned and move on in life (whether that be another attempt or not). Take care.

Aww matey never commented before but have been watching the whole time. What a tragic thing to happen when your so close to starting your trip. Sh!t happens at least your safe and well items and things can be replaced or repaired, you can’t. You still have the idea you have just had a set back. Have a chill out day assess the damage and get an early night. Things will seem a bit better in the morning .

I find you inspiring, not the boat. I'm just glad you're ok. Spend time with your family and don't worry about social media for a while. Focus on yourself and you'll find the next step. I agree with the others…. Firstly it’s bloody lucky it happened so close to shore and you’re still with us. You were lucky and I bet your family are counting their lucky stars. Secondly, as trite as it may seem, if you decide to try again, I’m sure the next C will be a great improvement. And finally, for closure for viewers, a 5 min review of what happened and when, with photos and what you’d do differently would be welcomed. Next time, perhaps you could get sponsorship from discovery channel or a production company to help, so the more you post videos the better. Branson shut down his space venture recently so even the best have set backs.

Hull was foam filled, but anyone would be too cramped in there, the leg pain would be too much to bear after 2-3 days

In these days of glass fibre hulls, I can't understand how it could spring a leak. The bow looked dangerously low even in calmish water. Looked like it could go head over heels in heavy seas. A great pity it ended so badly.

I get the short term pain, but lets look at this another way. Direct cause, leaking joints, root cause, insufficient wall thickness. Time to change tack, laser cut from aluminium, tig weld, fabricate from scratch. There must be dozens of business owners who would donate some laser cut sections to make a kit. I have full faith you will have another craft ready for sea trials before end of September. Big CC should be ready for the shortest Belfast to Liverpool record attempt in October. This story is not over........

So sorry this happened. I know you are in shock but no one was hurt and you have time to regroup and think things out in the cold light of day. Stay strong and stay safe but above all stay sane. No one who supports you thinks any the worse.

I was in a very embarrassing situation. Once my photo equipment was stolen from my car. I was engaged in wedding and food photography. The only income in the family and my daughter was just born. The police were unable to find the thief. It was hard, to be honest, I even got drunk and badly crushed the door on the refrigerator in the kitchen. Such cases leave a certain sense of injustice. But we are pretty tough beings) We can survive a lot worse than a sunken boat or a $10k loss of photo equipment) Everything will be ok

So Sorry, you made it further than I would have. On a lighter note, when I was younger I was so sea sick that I would have been willing to abandon my boat or pay almost anything for it to be over. Now that I have sailed for years I’m fine but I have taken people out that have begged and pleaded to return to land no matter the cost. Whatever the reason I still enjoyed dreaming alongside you. Hey don't be sorry. This time you can design and build a really innovative tiny boat safe to sail and ergonomic enough to let the pilot sleep vertically and comfortably on board. It was a bad idea anyway.

You forgot to mention two Canadian coastguard ships had to come to your rescue. You are putting yourself and your rescuer’s in danger plus the cost of the rescue. Rethink your plan before you get in some real trouble. You were planning to sail to europe and never made it 5 miles

Very sorry to hear your news. I assume the frame design was not calculated to lift the boat plus the weight of water and that there was no freeboard remaining to entertain pumping out as an option? Safest option remaining would be to ground the boat at high tide
