Just so you know, the 318 four barrel and the 360 four barrel, with TQ carbs both came with 800 cfm carbs, so I don't believe an 850-cfm carb on that engine with that cam is too large. I run a 750 cfm on my 360 with smog heads a performer cam and intake and stock exhaust manifolds, it was basically dead with a smaller carb on it. An electric fuel pump so you could fill your carb with gas after it has been sitting will save you from cranking so long to get fuel to your carb and save your starter as well. Awesome sounding engine, great exhaust system, I missed the burnout, or at least I was hoping to see one.

Not when they're running right. My 440, and 340 Magnums would fire immediately. To be fair, I never let them sit for two weeks. All the Mopars I ever owned, or my parents cars started without hesitation. They chryslers from '65 to about '73 were excellent. Never had any real problems. My Mom's Cadillac? Totally different story.

If it's not timing it sounds like the only thing he needs is an electric fuel pump to prime the engine. This thing sounds beautiful! I'm just getting my 78 D150 running after buying it last October...I'm going to cam and put aluminum heads on it with a 750cfm carb.

I was a running a Delphi mechanical fuel and a barrel style fuel filter like you have in your 360. I changed out the Delphi for a Carter.. No difference. I changed out the barrel filter for a slim glass one and boy that made a difference in start up. If you’re running a Glycerin filled fuel pressure gauge make sure you cut the tiny nipple off the rubber plug on top. It helps the heat escape for a accurate fuel reading! Those 360s detonate and get hot quick if fuel starved. Beautiful truck and sounds awesome!

I hate the fact that my neighbor has to wake up at 5:30am and come home at 6:15am. I'm not sure what engine and exhaust he has in that Dakota Sport Magnum 4-door but it does sound beautifully, throaty but not too obnoxiously loud. Could even be a stock exhaust with a perfect leak somewhere. It actually sounds very good even though it wakes me twice in 45 minutes. I wonder what he's doing every morning?

Nobody's really telling him how to enjoy his car everybody simply telling him that his carb is too big, which it is. Even a cam with over .500 lift and 250 duration won't require more than a 750, LA heads are just that restrictive. Even with a 340 or magnum head swap and headers you still have a 1.6-1.9 inch exhaust valve to compete with as well as very small ports.
