Your video is a great reminder of the value of patience and perseverance. It takes a lot of time and effort to grow and harvest melons and oranges, but the end result is so worth it. And the fact that you're able to make a living by selling them at the market is even more impressive. Keep up the great work! And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.

Man that was some green W Wheat there, the unloading augers that bend are quite an expense but handy when storing the combine and in Europe it’s necessary now that the headers are huge that unload auger hangs away out there behind but when you turn boy can you cause damage 😳
@bigtractorpower
@bigtractorpower 4 жыл бұрын
That is the great advantage of a stripper. When the wheat stem is green but the grain is ready you can harvest. That is a big advantage here in Kentucky where soybeans are planted as a second crop after wheat. A nice thing about the folding auger is also opening fields. You can keep it folded and not having to worry about backing into a tree while opining corners.

It's a regional thing. With most fields in central to northern WI being 60-80 acres some even less, road transportation really comes into play. So a 12 row folding is a good fit. And trust me, in 225+ corn you can still slam out 5500bu a hour.

I can make a classification video. It’s mainly based on hp of the combine. You can see in this video some class 6 combines like the Gleaner S96 has 390 bu while a class 9 like the Deere s790 is 400 bu. The key difference is the s96 is 322 hp where the S790 is 543 hp. That means more acres covered faster and unloading faster.

I'll never understand why they combine corn when its half green. The moisture has to be 23 or better. Why not wait a couple weeks and save drying?
@bigtractorpower
@bigtractorpower 3 жыл бұрын
Two reasons. Winter wheat follows the corn so they need to have harvested so they can fertilize and disk the ground and have it ready to seed by October 10 . The leaves are primarily green because the plants are sprayed with fungicide to strengthen their stocks and leaves from fungus over the summer and that keeps them greener longer into the fall.

Big Meech no , based mostly on power and hopper size the 8820 would be more in line with a class 5-6

Why they harvest the corn while is still green?
@bigtractorpower
@bigtractorpower 4 жыл бұрын
The grain is ready running about 20% moisture. All the corn is followed by winter wheat so they harvest in mid August because the corn was planted in Mid March. The corn has to go to make way for wheat so the wheat can be harvested in early June to make way for a second crop of soybeans to no till in the wheat stubble and to be harvested in October. The leaves stay green longer these days because fungicides strengthen the plants and they do not break down quickly. Harvesting green plants leaves less trash build up on the header which is a plus.

I used to have a deathly fear of these as a kid. My neighbors were farmers and owned several fields behind my house and on the sides of it. During combine time, my mother wouldn't let me play outside and would close all the windows because she feared the combine would put all kinds of dust and dirt in the air and didn't want me to breathe all that in. I also used to have nightmares about being trapped in the cornfield/soybean field during harvest season and the combine chasing me.

@@angelicvisions9494 I'm glad I'm not alone either. I kinda forgot about my "phobia" of combines until I took my nieces and nepphews to see this Disney movie where instead of people and animals, everything was a car or some sort vehicle. There was a scene where one car suggests they mess with some tractors, which was this world's version of cows. The bull was a combine. A very mean and agressive combine. All my memories came flooding back.
