In this video, I see if I can get this old Cummins Big Cam Diesel powered Ford 9000 Semi Truck Prime Mover going before it is removed from the cow paddock in which it has been sitting for atleast 15 years without being started. Thanks for watching.

This gentleman really knows his craft. The way he's so careful and cleaning around those nuts so as not to contaminate the pump. U don't see too many so careful.

I learnt how to drive in one of these old Fords years ago with the faithful old 350 big cam cummins under the bonnet. Was one of the best engines around back in the day, near bulletproof. Thanks for the video Bruce.

I have fond memories of these old trucks. My dad had a 1986 LNT 9000 for 10 years, 365 Big Cam 4, 13 speed overdrive and SP40s with 411s on airbag. it had the same interior, a 42 inch low line bunk, fiberglass flares and visor plus the later style grille off a LTS. it was a tidy little truck back in it's day

My dad, God rest him, used to drive a Ford L9000 like this one for the state, delivering equipment. He called it Blue Thunder and they put down some mileage back in the 90s and 2000s. When it was time for a rebuild my dad convinced his friend in the maintenance yard to install the next size turbo and bump up the fuel a bit :D Always a hot rodder.

The engine and the hood is it on that job. Glad it started and you did good. I've driven a couple with the big cam and they did all right but I'm a admirer of a 3406, a 300-Plus, an E-9 and a GM/Detroit. Paid many a light bill looking at dog butts. Thanks, Bruce and CHEERS!

@@bruceinaus no worries at all im learning alot from you and your videos, I do uave a question tho i’ve recently been given a 2003 hino (diesel) truck for my job it has a terrible knock im wondering how i an amateur could work out if its timing or bad fuel compression? i own a diesel hilux and through that i do know a little, I believe its not the pistons

Wow. That was easy. I’ve had daily drivers that took almost that much to get them going. Check oil, add a bit of water, prime the pump, connect batteries and fire it up.

Another great video! With all the webs, too bad you didn't pack your fire extinguisher / air compressor. With the volume of oil, wonder if the leak was the oil line for the turbo. Never thought to use a wire to check oil - Brilliant! Diesel Creek channel is building a big cam Cummings for his Autocar antique diesel, maybe it wouldn't hurt to message. Thanks for the video.

My grandpa's well rig was the same Ford cab, but the road motor was a Cat 3208, and the deck engine was a Detroit 8v92 turbo 435hp continuous running the implements. It was called a "Porta-drill." 1980's.

I love your videos Bruce. You remind me of my grandfather who had his own quarry in the Wollondilly shire. He had all sorts of equipment , diggers, loaders, tippers, a Blitz or two and he had a Ford tipper like your prime mover too. I think he called it a Louisville, is that what this 9000 is?
