FLIGHT CHOPS DISCLAIMER:
I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having the GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.

It’s good that you let your daughter help. You never know which activity or experience will light the spark. We invited one of my buddies to help with my uncle’s build when I was growing up and he went on to major in aeronautical engineering and then got job at Lockheed. He still talks about that experience we had “helping.” Even though we were probably more getting in the way. 😂

You can't go wrong with lots of details on a build project. I think sometimes content creators forget that the viewer has pause/FF/RW options. The viewer can always blast past stuff they find boring (especially if you include a handy time code/subject index) but the enthusiast can't enjoy what you don't include. You never have to worry about putting too much in your vids. I'm one of those that thinks more is better when it comes to anything aircraft.

Man, I was just filing a tight edge myself today; finally refining the fit of the forward baggage door. Still stuck in canopy skirt hell, and dealing with a lot of personal distractions that have slowed down progress a lot this summer... but getting back into it. You already know how much I'm frustrated by the border closure; also sets back the possibility of you visiting my build. You're lucky to have experienced mentors on call. I have some around here; they lead busy lives, but I've gotten help when I've really needed it. It gets tricky when the parts I have to handle require at least two people, and I only have me. The price of progress is bigger parts. BTW Great Work Evelyn! My daughter Naomi helped me rivet on the aft top skin, and she did a great job. My wife Amy even helped me tighten those nightmare gear bolts. Having family help out is a good feeling.

I'm loving these more in-depth episodes. BTW - top tip, when cutting plexi, if you stick regular clear 3M tape over the cut and cut through it; it acts as a lubricant and *greatly* reduces melting at the cut line. (Learned from a previous job making illuminated signs).

Great to see the RV progressing well. It is also great to see Evelyn taking an interest and getting involved (I remember you saying that you'd never push her down the aviation path, so I know its her taking an interest). Private aviation is slowly getting back to normal here in the UK, social distancing in place and cafe's at airfields using similar arrangements to keep people safe. I need to find a new syndicate though as the chief pilot sold our T67M. Maybe I should get that tailwheel sign off done...

I'm loving the build. Rv's look like great aluminium planes. At least for fiberglass planes, like the cozy mk4 I'm starting tomorrow hopefully, West systems 105 with the 209 hardener is recommended for exactly that reason. It's slower so the thermal run-away is rarer.

You learned the hard way that mixing too much at a time will bite you. If you would have had it in a much larger but shallower container it helps plus putting it in a pan of ice water. I have used a lot of West system Epoxy helping my daughter building cedar wood strip canoes. We use the west system in building up the stem pieces and of course lots doing the epoxy-fiberglass layers inside and out. They have a special extra clear component for that. We have used about 10 gallons worth now with 5 canoes built. They have about 10 different filler materials depending on what you are doing.
