Nice, big, heavy... But more questions than answers. The piece is machined all round before this set up, I presume on this lathe, that would make this the 3rd set up. Which could answer why or rather how the fixed steady, massive on its own, is adjusted well enough not to require clocking the outboard end of the job. I wouldn't be able to trust it without a check myself, there's a few dollars tied up in that stock!! Which country is this shop in? Thanks for the video.

LOL, I'm thinking my 13" swing South Bend might fit inside the part that definitely won't fit in my lathe!!!! Awesome, screw up on chucking that up and that will probably be the end of you! Wow... scary big!

La pieza (o tubo esta vez), no queda perfecta porque al apretar, se ovala por la presión de la mordazas + el calentamiento por el roce del buril cortando. Al aflojar el tubo y medir en la zona de agarre, se medirán diferentes valores en varias zonas del diámetro.

Las mordazas son para el arrastre, no son sujeción de toda la pieza, las paredes de la pieza son suficientemente gruesas como para deformarse.

Y no es buril, es un inserto de filos intercambiables de carburo positivo para torneado interior.

@@miguelbautista3374 peor todavía. Más calentamiento pues los ángulos de un inserto son negativos, no sin ángulos agudos y producen más deformación. Al aflojar. Cuando yo hacía este trabajo tornaba una tapa de hierro con la medida interior y ajustada, al hacer presión con las mordazas, no se ovala.

I would not care about the hard hat. The cables in front of the lathe could cause more damage when you fall in the wrong direction.

Yes, throw away everything as soon as it gets any dirt on it. That's economical. Why don't you run your shop your way and let them run their shop their way and we'll all mind our own business.
