Hidden away from great deal of student and academic life fervor, although right under the nose of thousands attending and visiting The Quad and University of Illinois Student Union.& Hotel, is the late 19th century grave of the school's first President, John Milton Gregory. Interesting to note for my own life arc is that the grave rests just meters away on the same Quad where in high school I spent many idle hours with the collective of teenage Goths, punks, hippies, skaters and New Wavers gathered there in our being seen scene of looking like cool outcasts.
