Last time I raced a 250 it was a CanAm dirt bike in the late 70’s. I crashed that too! Now that I’m older, wiser and saving money for that later day in life I will keep to my Mavic Mini for now. I eagerly await your series on FPV, I’m interested, I’m just taking my time getting into this hobby/sport. Cheers Steve, hoping you don’t have to continue hiding in the grass.

When you use iNav instead of Betaflight, you get much more advanced GPS functionality, like RTH and land, hover, altitude hold. And it still is a FPV drone... But Betaflight has more tuning options for racing an freestyle. My five cents...

Priced out a complete new set with DJI equipment, larger battery etc. It came to $1,600+. Hmm. A bit much for a guy like me who has never flown FPV. This is not a starter option for me. BUT, Steve you do great work on the tube. Really enjoy your work!

That is like top of the line. (kinda like buying an inspire 2 in the camera drone world). The great thing with FPV is that you buy a controller once, you buy goggles once, you buy a battery charger once, you buy batteries once. The only thing you buy in the future is the drone and as many as you like because everything works together.

Always 4S due to the expense (6S batteries can be costly and in the FPV Hobby you will need plenty).

controller and goggles are the two main things you don't want to go cheap on...trust me...i did and learnt you buy cheap then you buy twice. best way is if you can meet others who fly and see what they're using. most pilots will let you try goggles to see what you like before you buy.

@@theshadow2576 Fortunately I have the money to not worry too much about it. It's an expensive hobby for sure. I ride mountain bikes and BMX and neither of those are cheap, so drones seem pretty inexpensive to me.

Hi, I'm a beginner here, do you need to have the DJI FPV goggles to fly drones that have the DJI air unit built in? Or would it work with other goggles? (I know you said at the beginning YOU need to use the DJI goggles and controller but I wasn't sure if you meant that was your own preference). Thanks

Currently, as of right now, only DJI makes goggles that work with the DJI FPV AIR UNIT as well as the CADDX VISTA AIR UNIT

I'm trying to decide between the flight XL5 and DC5. I like how the deadcat doesn't have props in view, and I don't have a go-pro. But I hear the true X handles better, any thoughts?

They all handle really well. I have all the iFlight Titans from 4S to 6S and they are outstanding. To sum them all up with one word it would be "smooth"

When i want to buy, the web site asks me that which receiver i want. Options are 1.frisky xm+ fcc 2.frisky r_xsr fcc 3. Tbs crossfire 4.no additional receiver, 5.frisky xm+ eu lbt 6.ftisky r_xsr eu lbt I do not know about it. Pls help. İ wanna use with dji system. (Dji Googles and remote control)

iFlight has all the DUMPs for every drone on the website. If you messed yours up, go to the website, get the DUMP and flash it back into your drone.

You can use any RC Hobby Radio (also called a controller) you wish. You just have to make certain that whatever RECEIVER is in the drone is compatible with your Radio.

No wiring at all. It comes fully assembled. You just put the props on, bind it to your radio, set up any preferences in Betaflight, and go fly.

Hello, great video. I own the dji fpv combo and would like to get a bnf that has more juice... I was thinking of the nazful 5 v2 6s until I noticed this one which has better components and a GPS and also seems better for my use (m8d range and freestyle) I like. I m just afraid that it flies not as well as the nazgul as it is heavier and bigger (so concerned for the free style)... What do you think? Can you confirm it will fly better than the fpv combo (which kinda vibrates after tricks and is not ultra smooth for freestyle). Thanks on advance for.your.time and answer.

To see me fly u may think I was trying to fly as if the drone I have was FPV! The tec for Camera Drones vs FPV Quods Do you think the tec is moving along equally or does one have Ah get more attention from the larger brands. On different note dji is probably keeping there head above water well With new Air 2 ,What do you think about the rest of the industry that can't pull the next model from warehouse, giving there self a shot in the arm ! I can think of anyone else that gets people to go into the red to buy a Drone, not saying I would not be one of the same people deep in the red for a Drone worth flying

I am considering getting into drones. Can you please explain why it has a GoPro mount AND a camera built in? You mentioned it can record directly on the unit with an SD card slot.

Unfortunately I can not explain it here. This is an FPV Drone which is difficult to learn and fly. If you are starting in drones, you need a camera drone.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I did a little research. I think the answer to my question is that the DJI unit can record at 1080p 60FPS, while a GoPro should be able to record much better. So if you are ok with 1080p then the GoPro is rather pointless weight to add. Great review, thanks for posting.

Hi Cap, I would like to start using occasional drone footage on my motorcycle channel. My budget is small and I was looking at the ones on Wish. Is there one on there and does a decent job (video footage must be at least 1920x1080 and can follow a motorcycle-ish)? Also, what do you next recommend for me in the 200-400 category? Many thanks. If you want a drone to follow you on your motorcycle, you will have to dig DEEP into your pockets. The SKYDIO2 is the BEST of the BEST for this, followed by the MAVIC 2 AIR & AUTEL EVO II. If you can find an old used DJI MAVIC PRO or DJI SPARK, those will work as well. Finally the old DJI MAVIC AIR (first generation) should be going on sale soon it it works as well.

Yes, just as you would on any FPV drone. Since this is using the AIR UNIT by DJI, you would ADD the receiver in order to use Crossfire.

In your opinion, should I buy a cheap drone to start with or should I buy something that will meet my long term desires so I only have to buy once???

I guess I should also mention that I've shot semi-pro photography for many years. I've won awards, money, whatever. I just love to do photography and want to take it to the next level...

Mavic 2 PRO is for people who know there way around a camera. Alternate drone for you is also the Mavic AIR 2 (brand new).

You can pick from about 4 receivers. Pick the one that works with your radio.

Mavic Mini does not use FPV Goggles because it is not an FPV Drone, it is a Camera Drone.

Help from Capt. Drone or anyone! Just received my Titan XL5 and updated the DJI software in the quad, remote controller, and goggles. In Betaflight, I've changed the arm and flight mode buttons (as recommended in the A85 review vid), calibrated the gyro, and note that the stick inputs are correct as well as the motors, as indicated in BetaFlight. When I turn on the quad, controller, and goggles, they all indicate a successful bind with green lights and beeps. I get good video and quad data in the goggles. However, the drone does not respond to any stick or button inputs from the controller. I have a Titan Alpha 85 and iH2 quads and did not have any problems binding/flying them. I could used some help/recommendations from anyone! Thanks much. Dave

You'll need to go into BETAFLIGHT and turn off the GPS option so that the drone ARMS when there is no GPS signal. This quad is designed to ARM when it gets a GPS signal. To test this... take it outdoors, power it on and try arming it after 30 seconds to a minute of sitting out in an open area. I changed mine with a command line input on the CLI tab so that GPS is not required to ARM. I can't recall exactly what the command was but with some searching you'll figure it out.
