"Scoping out" an off-road recovery to see if the Tator is up to the task. Is it the proper tool for the job? A Mack dump truck loaded with gravel and weighing approximately 50,000 pounds (22,680 Kgs) was attempting to reach a construction site when it sank on the low side towards a pond and got stuck in "spongy" ground. The truck was leaning and there was no good access to reach it. Did I bring the wrong truck or can I figure out a way to help the customer using what I have "on-hand"? That being a 2015 Peterbilt 389X with a Miller Industries, Century 1150R rotator towing and recovery unit, our unit #11.
Please SLOW DOWN & MOVE OVER!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

Hey Ron Pratt, would love to see a video of your after a tow job where you respooll the winch and reorganize your truck. That’s all part of every job too! That’s really the meat and taters of the tow life that nobody ever sees!🤠👍
@jaquigreenlees
@jaquigreenlees 3 жыл бұрын
From the look when Ron opened the chain locker the reorganizing is only done when he is doing a big cleaning of the lockers on the rotator. Ron tends to put the equipment back in place when he is done with the job unless there is another call or a big cleaning when he gets back to the shop. The re-spooling would be interesting, the time he did it on the drag wasn't a clear picture of everything involved.

My OCD Kicks in overdrive when i see the racks and stuff I just want to head over and help him straighten it out. I was like that in my own OTR trucks sleeper kept clean and organized along with my jockey box and dash board was kept clear. I just found out over time a clean truck keeps them from looking at you to hard unlike that guy who has a ton of crap on his dash paper, trash, 20 log book.

LOL the mulit-lingual swearing! That goes both ways. This customer and the dump driver were both smart enough to 1.) NOT try to dump the load at that angle 2.) stop before they made a minor problem into a disaster and 3.) defer to Ron's expertise, unlike some who think they know his job better than he does.

I just love watching you with such a great attitude on things, and you don't stress yourself because you are always thinking ahead. God bless you and this old 75 yr. old woman still loves the way you work at things. My first husband taught me how to work on my own cars and he said necessity is the mother of invention. He taught me to think ahead and how to use my noggin for something other than a hat rack. I did all the work on my own vehicles until I got to where I wasn't able, brakes transmissions, clutch disc, pressure plates, anything, it didn't matter. I wasn't afraid to tackle things and solve my own problems. I would still thank him to this day if he were still living. Most women today hardly know how to put gas in the car, much less how to change a tire or anything else. Stay safe and God bless.

I think it was a very wise call to try before going back for the other truck. When you said, "I hate to leave without at least giving it a try...!" I thought "Absolutely Ron!" And the way the hillside & top were mushed up by the dump truck, you might have had a hard time going up there. So you spend the time trying with the 'Tator? How much faster would it have been to switch trucks? You saved yourself and the dump truck owner a lot of time. To paraphrase Jerry Clower, "You need to respect that the brung ya." The Tator brung ya. Use it. Good video Ron!
