The problem is he’s 5th choice centre half at Man Utd. The club accepted a bid for him plus offered him £6 million to leave the club but he wanted £12 million. The other issue is Gareth Southgate picks him for England yet other players are playing all the time & constantly better.

I understand his mum wanting to defend her son, but that was a really bad idea. Between his mum and his overly sensitive agent, theyre making things worse for him. I feel bad for the guy at this point, and Southgate has to take the blame for putting him in the firing line, but this is probably not something that he play through. He needs to go away and find himself again. He should have left United when he had the opportunity

Maguire is his own worst enemy. Clearly he stayed at United for the money nothing else. He said that the club wanted to keep him despite us accepting a bid from West Ham & we were willing to give him a large chunk of money to leave but he turned it down. He's openly admitted that his England career is his biggest priority & he knows Southgate will play him regardless of whether he plays for United or not. Now you've got his mother speaking out on his behalf saying that all the criticism her son gets is unfair despite Maguire making continuous mistakes everytime he plays. The whole thing is fuckin embarrassing

Any half decent player would have gone to a new club, get regular game time and try to justify being selected for England duties. Maguire turned down a compensation package offered to him and a move to a club where he would get regular football! Gareth Southgate hasn’t been helping Harry Maguire continuing to put him in the spotlight for England and that’s not how you handle an out of form player. He can defend him so can his teammates but what a proper manager is supposed to do in this scenario is to leave him out of the squad completely and with Harry Maguire this isn’t even a conversation we should be having about him since he’s not been playing well at club level he’s not even played for Manchester United and all of this makes him a liability for England but no Gareth Southgate still continues to persist with him. Sometimes I do feel bad for him but in the summer he should’ve left Manchester United but didn’t and as long as he’s still a United player and isn’t playing enough but continues to start regularly for England he’ll continue to be under the spotlight and what Gareth Southgate is supposed to do is drop him as that’s best for him and the team.

The Scotland fans showed Slabhead the love and respect he believes he's entitled too. The Scotland fans knew in there hearts he wasn't comming on for England, he was comming on for Scotland. Totally agree with Simon here. This mental health thing is being overplayed. We all have challenges, but most people I know wake up everyday with something hanging over the head but they hop out of bed and just get on it. Jadon Sancho is on 300k a week at Manchester United as a 23 year old. Many a young man has succumbed to the pressures of playing for such a big club and Sancho has shown a lack of fortitude needed to not be another example of that. I don't see anyway back for him. It's a shame but I'm just glad Ten Haag is cleaning house.

At the end of the day, the manager picks the players. Ashley Young,Cleverley and Lingard all got dogs abuse but eventually they left Man Utd to get playing time. Maguire has decided to stay on the bench and wait for his chance.

It's not abuse. Most of the criticism seems to be directed at his selection by Southgate when he's not at international level whether getting gamete time or not. The problem is Southgate because as long as he's being selected he's gonna go on international duty.

It's frustrating because despite the madness currently at hand. Gareth Southgate is still the closest any manager has been to winning a trophy at England for a very long time indeed. Southgate needs to listen to the fans, suck up the criticism and actually use it as a weapon to strengthen the team. He could go on to win the Euro/World cup, the players are there and often times the fans are right and get ignored.

for manchester united, it's just tenhag's tactical setup that has caused these changes. he wants to play a high line and maguire is unsuitable for that. not being able to play a high line doesn't make him a bad defender, it just makes him a bad option for that system. tenhag wants strikers to lead the press, which made ronaldo a bad option. tenhag wants his wingers to provide defensive support, which makes sancho a bad option vis-a-vis antony who busts his butt everytime the opponent counterattacks. it doesn't make ronaldo a bad striker, it doesn't make sancho a bad winger. they're just unsuitable for how tenhag wants to play, is all.

The England National team seldom plays against teams that are at the same level either technically or from a fitness level or that have the same level of experience. Maguire is never a standout player as almost no team occupies England's defensive final third for any significant time. To say that "Maguire never lets England down" is nonsense. He does every time we play a decent team. He offers uncertainty due to his lack of form, his lack of current match fitness and form and confidence. He negatively affects others around him - how can he not? He will not play more than 5 to 8 games for United in the League, almost all as a substitute. They tried to sell him and only one team publicly wanted him but Maguire's own requirement for a Man Utd payoff seems to have stopped this. I cannot see West Ham returning for him now. He was the epitome of the Emperor's New Clothes, a player that United were hoodwinked into thinking was the next Leader, worth £80m and their saviour. Everyone else thought they were crazy spending that money. Turns out everyone was right. Sorry Harry, you aren't technically gifted, you're not fast, your distribution beyond 10 yards is abysmal, your first touch and close control are poor by any measure and you aren't aware of your failings so can't improve them. Let your contract wind down and go abroad or to Saudi Arabia. You'll find your level, and it's not Premier League.

I would blame Southgate for this Maguire's issue this time because he's bloody picking him everytime even though Maguire is not playing enough game time in his Club. This believe of Maguire got him stuck at Man United and now he deserves every bit of criticism (not abuses) coming his way

I disagree with this no booing mentality. Because fans in stands have that time and that time only to have a voice in the game and their club.... If they are paying week in week out to see the same mistake being picked, why shouldn't they be able to sound off against it? They have every right to let the manage know they aren't happy and don't like that choice!
