I live 10 miles from Hammers. In the last couple of years I haven't even gone. The desert's fun with a handful of friends but I got no use for Conga lines or Hammertown anymore. The best day at the Hammers now for me is the day after... when everybody's gone. The conga line leaving town heading toward Vegas I do love. Hundreds of vehicles heading up Barstow highway right past my ranch. It's a beautiful sight! 😆👍

Hi Rory. My name is also Rory, but I've had my name since 1957. Related to the negative comments you get, just ignore them.. I don't understand why people feel the need to try to be negative and even insulting. It's very childish in my opinion. Odds are they can't handle any sort of negative comments and try to make themselves feel better by tearing down people who do the things they cannot. The rest of us really enjoy you sharing your experiences with us. Youre a hell of a trail mechanic. Keep up the good work.

Rory is a shoveling beast. He's a man with a mission using the RV's own level jacks to help get the tires freed. An ad pops Up. It should have been Gatorade! Once tires reset on the sand more advantageously, Rory is able to effectively yank then pull the Big Rv with his Kinetic rope attached to his nicely modded dually 4x4 wrecker. Matt wheeled the RV while going backwards somewhat blindly

It amazes me that someone would drive a big heavy motor home onto sand and thinks it's going to be OK.
@mrmotofy2 жыл бұрын
But everyone else is doing it? If you're gonna take a chance an event like this is the right place with experienced offroaders with rigs everywhere. NOT like the ex truck driver with a short school bus that decided he was gonna back off the gravel into the grass, in a somewhat remote National Forest. Nobody but him and me about 1/10th of a mile away. I heard revving for about 30min. So sure enough he was stuck, so I was prepared as usual and pulled him out

Brilliant rescue Rory, Mat and Jamie. Someone really needs to hook up with Rory to help with his footage and drag the information and knowledge out of him. Big things move a little bit at a time ("how do you eat an elephant?"), little bits of deductive reasoning and critical thought combined are able to move anything and everything. Regurgitating facts and calling it knowledge does not solve problems other than, sadly, poor academic scores/grades. I am not aiming to lessen what he did at all, rather to bring it back up to the societal level where it belongs.

Can't get over how strong the shackles are. 3/4 in rope and then a tiny little shackle and Matt abuses them and they never fail.
@ITubeTooInc2 жыл бұрын
I think Rory's kinetic ropes are from Factor 55 rather than Yankum. I have seen a Factor 55 stciker on Trail Mater. But they are the same thing, just different brands/sponsors. Both brands are even red. Casey's Off Road Recovery use Factor 55 ropes too.

Leveling jacks. OMG. One evening in Glamis a brand new DP was pulling into the soft sand washes and got stuck. It wasn't that the jacks couldn't lift the rig, it was that the jacks kept forcing the pads into the ground. Someone came up with the idea of putting blocks under the jacks. No matter the size of the blocks the jacks kept sinking them into the ground. We gave up that idea when the 10X7X24 pieces of beam were pushed into the sand as if they were sunflower seeds. To this day we figured MAYBE something like a man hole cover MIGHT be enough to lift the bigger rigs with the jacks. Either way GREAT video Rory, Jayme & Matt. And yes running over a bush in Ca is a huge no no.
