Eugene, Oregon. We hit the RecreateVehicles show at the fairgrounds. Of the two Super-C rigs, one shower was approximately 18"/.5m square. I am 6'3", my shoulders touched both walls. . I am convinced factory RecreateVehicles are designed by committees of non-camping accountants.
@thecumminscamper6 ай бұрын
I totally agree on that the design teams of these companies are not designing it with campers in mind. Accountants and business men just making decisions based on production and cost

Another awesome video!! Love your way of thinking “ Hate Campgrounds”!!! We bought a 2020 Lance 1172 right when Covid hit. It’s a pre covid camper and back when the price hadn’t gone through the roof. Our does have a queen size bed. The main reason we bought the 1172 was because of the couch and being so roomy. Your hard work on your camper makes it exclusively your own and like you said “there’s no place like home”! You truly have your million dollar camper!!!!

Thanks so much. That 1172 couch was awesome. I want that extra space! Greatly appreciate you watching and commenting!

I don’t blame you. Needing some cutting space is key. I don’t want to always have to food prep at my table. I want some counter space!

It would be interesting for a video at your favorite Lance dealer, discussing what options and changes you two would like; on a new ordered 1172. Being 4” taller than you, I liked the comment about “knee room”!

It would be super fun to discuss these options with Lance themselves! Marisa would make a great interior designer for a camper brand.

Thanks Tom so much for watching! We agree on our camper being the favorite after seeing all the stock campers. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still thinking about that couch on the 1172. You could always put a flatbed on your 3500 and be 90% of the way there!

When we were looking for our camper I was in Phoenix for work so swung by a dealer and looked at new and old campers. The 1172 is enticing but I never liked the newer Lance layouts. This was 2018. On my flight home (CT) I found a 2003 1161 in the Berkshire’s and we immediately went to look at it. Fell in love as the layout is great + side entry door. Put deposit on it and picked it up a few weeks later. I’ve since completely rebuilt the slide out frame and rear wings and now she’s 100% structurally solid. It’s on a 2018 Ram 3500 CC Laramie. We use it a lot in the summer and it’s under cover in the winter.

My favorite truck camper is an Eagle Cap 1165. I love the bathroom and the island. Big and heavy though
@thecumminscamperАй бұрын
The Eagle Cap 1165 is a sweet camper. I love them also. It’s a shame they’re not being built anymore. I’ve been in a friend’s 1165 before and was super impressed. As I write this lounging in our single slide camper I’m still a happy dude with our set up. Plus it’s paid for 😂
@nevysadventuresllc9074Ай бұрын
@@thecumminscamper I have found a few 1165’s for sale, if I could find an affordable truck to haul it I would have one. They are still being built but only to order if I remember right it’s been a couple of years since I spoke to them they have to have few ordered to be worth building but I am not sure if they survived the pandemic.
@thecumminscamperАй бұрын
@@nevysadventuresllc9074 that’s great that they’re still building to order. I forget who the parent company is of Eagle but I know Scout campers are owned by the same folks and I think Adventure too? I’m surprised the luxury, large TC market wasn’t profitable enough post COVID with the increase in RV sales for them to thrive. I don’t know enough about the situation to say I’m super well read on it but just my opinion.

We were at the Tampa show, our first time. I loved the Kingstar model with the dinette! We ended up buying a small Class C. I just couldn't deal with the wet bath in the truck campers. We mostly camp at state parks because we love the nature but don't need the 'fluff' in private campgrounds. We haven't done much boondocking yet, just an overnight at a casino in Erie PA.
@thecumminscamper6 ай бұрын
A class C is great. We’d strongly consider a class C in our future. The convenience of the access from the cab of the truck to the house is a big selling point for us. The wet bath is the worst part of a truck camper. We hardly use ours. Thanks for watching our video!
@largemarge16036 ай бұрын
20:30 2003, we engineered our ExpeditionVehicle with a rear entry. We like the sight-lines; we think the shorter wider 'drag-strip' down the center contributes to the visual and visceral sense of openness. . (I took a moment just now to measure our combo walk-way/exercise-zone/dance-floor -- 48"/1.3m across by 7'2"/2.2m long. We increase the feeling of openness with zero cabinets above waist-level.) . With a side-entry, the sight-line is immediately slammed into the cabinets/water-closet opposite the entry. We think that chops the interior into obstructive chunks. . And that truck is no longer available as a truck, it is permanently a factory RecreateVehicle. . An aside: We occasionally travel through areas with right-hand drive, traffic in the left lane. Any side-entry will eventually be opening into traffic.

Looking for an used Bigfoot or Northern Lite to couple with a F550. Alaska bound!
@thecumminscamper3 ай бұрын
So glad you picked up our channel! Appreciate you watching and commenting. We do have a diesel heater. I did a repair video on it a while back which showcased how the heater is fitted into our camper. They’re pretty easy to install. We took out the old propane furnace and put the diesel heater in its place and then I made a hodgepodge of a manifold system to distribute the heat throughout the camper. It works great. 4 years of use. The only issues I’ve had with it were from my own doing lol. Checkout Autoterm diesel heaters. They’re less expensive than the webasto and super reliable.
