Incidentally Brian; since I have been learning from your videos; I understand Hearing. And I credit it to Jesus, through you Sir. For, tomorrow I am going back to Costco to finish my buy, of the Jabra Pro 20. Because the Sr technician told me, "You need to get the wax out of your right ear!. So I did that with my Hear Doctor. And I can't wait for the technician to program my new "Hearing Aids". And from all the wonderful things you have taught; I do believe; it is going to be a blessing. Praise Jesus. And thank you to the "Nth" degree Sir! Wow!

Hello Brian, I've had my Philips Hearlink 9040s for about a month now and couldn't be happier. I had tried the Jabra Enhance Pro 20s back in December and didn't really care for them. They sounded harsh and a little tinny to my ears. And I wasn't fond of the single control button on each device. I love the way the 9040s are set up. After the Jabras I tried a pair of Sigmas and they were horrible. Uncomfortable and bad sound. The 9040s, for me, are just right. The sound is much more natural. Also, when I occasionally use them for streaming, the sound is very good; terrible for the Jabras. Even if Philips hadn't updated their app, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. These are awesome hearing aids! Thanks for all the info you impart. BTW, the music app is great. Just love it!

Just got my 9040 aids last Friday from Costco. It's very early days, but so far I'm liking it. Liking that there's more low end to balance with the rest of the frequencies. Also, at a loud party last night, I do think that it has pulled in surrounding voices to have them overcome some of the background noise, but I need more time with that. But the thing I'm most excited about is that it works with my M1 MacBook Pro via macOS Sonoma. I am using it now as I type. I have the laptop in clamshell mode, meaning the lid is closed because I have it attached to a dock and using it like a desktop computer. I noticed that while one side is streaming pretty smoothly, the other streams too but has split-second bumps in volume. Still, overall it's very usable and hope that things will smooth out. Maybe they will do so if I use my laptop with the lid open, but will do that another day. But there you go on that. You might be able to ditch that Audioclip accessory.

ah yes, if you have a newer mac OS, you connect them just like an iphone. This is not a surprise, this is expected and works as it should. But this is great news, im glad you are liking them so far!

@@HearingClub Shortly after I ordered my hearing aids, I reached out to Philips hearing aid tech support to inquire on whether or not I still needed to purchase the Audioclilp accessory, and the reply was that I needed to purchase the device in order to work with the computer. On the list of supported hearing aids, a document from Apple, the "X040" aids were supposed to be supported, which was a conflicting message. Fortunately, what you mentioned panned out. Hope that Philips does update its info for the benefit of other users.

9050's are out now. Think Costco will have them? My costco hearing text in 2 weeks. Probably Jabra 20 or Philips 9040 seem the best choices at the moment with all the tech and programs.

Yes, Costco will eventually stock the 9050’s. We all expected them to be out already but they are not out yet.

once you return the philips, i doubt they will let you buy them again, just to get the upgraded charger. I would call first and ask.

Loved the KS 9 android bi-directional blue tooth. This is missing in 9040, even though it is newer.

yes, pretty much all other Rx hearing aids other than sonova (phonak) are mfi hearing aids and dont work the same.

I think it would be great if they fixed the present app from dropping the left or right H aid. Today I have 1.1.0 app. Yesterday I had 1.2.2 app. I did not change this my self. Yesterday a window opened up from the app asking about technical issues. I replied telling them what was happenings a lot. Sent it and today I'm back on 1.1.0 app. At least someone responded. They are working out the bugs. That's good.

Just want to say again how much I enjoy your videos. I have a question that is a little off topic. I have been interested in becoming a hearing I’d fitter. I see some companies that offer online training with the understanding that I would have to test and get licensed in the state where I live. Any recommendations or where/how to get started? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My wife and I went in for our hearing tests 12/23. We had our tests at the same with two different techs. My wife was told the Phillips was best for her and I was told the Jabbra 20s were best for me. I was surprised that there was no discussion about which of the three types I might prefer. Is this normal? I asked about Android compatibility, which we both use, and was told there was no problem with my Jabbras. I assumed my wife and I would set down together to discuss brands, features, and compatibilities. My wife is not a technical person and did no research before coming in. I did research with Utube and therefore had questions, but these questions were only with my tech in our testing room. I'm not upset, just mystified. I'm hoping each tech steered us in the right direction. It seems that we were given no choice, just their recommendation. Is this normal?

thats a great question. It really depends on who you have as a practitioner (fitter). Some of us fitters have the mentality that "we are the professional, we tell them what they need" and some of us are of the mentality "im here to help and listen and i'll give you all of your options". I am of the latter. I'll do my best to explain the differences and you should be able to choose after hearing said options. Costco is great, great products, great price but the only issue is the amount of time we get for our appts. We don't have enough time to really answer all of your questions and sometimes have to rush through the appointments. Its not just costco, this happens all over the place. But i'll tell you what, BOTH jabra and philips are amazing hearing aids. You cant go wrong with either option.

The Phillips 9040 were annouced on feb 14, 2023, the 9030 on feb 14, 2022. Would it be a good idea to wait until feb 14, 2024 before purchasing the 9040 ???

well, at costco, we only have one BTE hearing aid. We used to have more but now we just have the Rexton HP LI BTE. This is a powerful BTE hearing aid that requires custom molds, tubes and is meant for the most severe of hearing losses. If your hearing loss isn't as bad as I think, you may be able to use an RIC with a custom mold. I haven't seen your audiogram so i really don't know which would be better for you.

I've got my appointment tomorrow at Costco for a hearing test and looking to replace my ancient (5 years old!) Bernafon hearing aids. What are your thoughts on rechargeable vs. batteries? I take a couple of long trips a year and I have always found it convenient to just have extra batteries with me and replace them as needed, which may be a couple of times during the trip. The thought of having another charger to carry with all my other electronics (camera battery chargers, computer power accessories, power adapters, etc.) just makes me afraid that (1) I'm adding bulk to my equipment bag and (2) I'm going to leave it behind somewhere. I noticed on the Jabra 20's that in addition to the size difference, the rechargeable doesn't have telecoil. I can't see any difference in the Philip models. This might also be a good subject for a video.🙂

Sounds like you would be happier with conventional 312 hearing aid batteries. There is no difference between battery and rechargeable 9040s. The only reason there is a difference between the jabras is because of the extremely small size of the new Enhance pro 20s. They simply can't fit a tcoil in that small package.

Visited my hearing center today: Costco will not give out another charger to previous purchasers. They will furnish only one: either the old or the new but not both. Their aim is to furnish only the portable model from now on.

Is it a big deal to switch from one brand to another while still within the first 90 days. This new info you mention sounds like it is important enough that switching my be necessary?

nah, if you find that you dont like your brand, return it. Just keep in mind, they won't let you switch back to that previous brand again. So make sure its the right decision. If I were you, i'd wear your current brand for a good 5 months since you have 6, and then I would make an appt to TRY another brand. If you really think the new brand you are considering is better, go for it.

It does but I don't like it. I want to control it. I cant tell that it's even doing anything. With my jabras, it makes a huge difference.

So, I have 3 more reviews to finish. The JVC hearing aid with an AI assistant review will be out this week. Finishing the orka 2 review, then I have the wellue hearing aid review and then finally the linner nova lite will all be coming out. After that, the philips series will start. It will be legendary! You have the ability to program YOUR OWN hearing aids, everything from start to finish! And I will show you the way with my start to finish, easy to follow, videos helping you out.

Thanks so much..I have my 1st Costco appt on 23 FEB, doing research, think btwn 9040 and Jabra Enhance 20s. Do you foresee enabling some sort of directional, adjustable focus capability like the Jabra and which you have been pinging Philips about? That'd be nice! With all I read, sounds like 9040 has sound quality edge over Jabra (obviously adjustments can be made), but app/software leaving much to be desired. If the app and software of 9040 can be improved, updated etc it could, as you say, make the 9040 the overall best choice. I will stay tuned

I wouldn't say better. I would say the sound is more natural but the philips is lacking options for adjusting background noise and there is no adjustable noise filter. I have videos on both hearing aids, for this very question.

I just bought my 9040's and it did not come with the extra charger. If they do not give me one I have 6 months to return them.

You won't get an extra charger. You get the premium charger instead of the standard charger. You don't get both.

Do you have any suggestions how to get the streaming volume louder on Android? When streaming on calls or youtube if I turn up the volume on the aids it just makes the noise around me louder not the streaming volume? Thanks for any help

This is the way its supposed to work. To increase the volume of the phone call, you use the same button you normally would to increase the phone call volume. The volume button on the side of the phone.

My Costco hearing center stinks now. They are overloaded with patients and not enough help. Takes 5 to 6 months to get your aids from when you schedule your first appointment. They keep offering new products to attract customers but have not implemented a plan to handle the increase in patients. Someone out for a day and you are pushed back a month or 2 on your appointment, not just a coupledays. It's only going to get worse I was told with the shortage of licensed fitters.

@@happytx1860 Merry Christmas to you. I am up in Rochester NY. Costco. They say there are no properly qualified employees to hire in NY and all the stores are getting backed up with no way to expand. Costco really needs to start training people or using AI for things like adjustments.
