This is driving lesson #4 where I'm teaching my FIRST TIME learner driver little brother how to drive a manual car on PUBLIC ROADS so that he can pass his driving test! This driving lesson could have ended up in an accident as there was a close crash with another learner driver during the lesson 🤕 We also find out if my brother finally passed or failed his theory test 👀

Man, I've watched enough of your brother's driving. The main problem I can see through the videos is that he doesn't have the basics of driving down man. Taking him on the roads is a bit dangerous, ngl. I think start him off again in a big parking lot on like a dead day (maybe like Sundays). Or, take him to a track or something with no traffic. His clutch control is just not there yet, but putting him an environment with no distractions like other cars, pedestrians, and cyclists may actually help him out. Clutch control, speed, and steering is what he seems to be really lacking, but I'm just another dude on KZfaq lol.

Honestly, I reckon you should take him to the park and teach him how to control the car first. Start from scratch so that he can gain some confidence and ensure that everything becomes second nature to him. Once he learns how to control the car, teach him how to use the mirrors and shoulder checks at the park. And then take him onto the road. Also you gotta be a bit more calm with him

Yeah he needs to steer more or he won’t be able to make tight turns at all but his biggest problem is the speed round corners. He’s turning so quickly that he’s completely out of control and dangerous. Edit: also he really need to practice just finding the biting point. He should go to a quiet hill and practice until he can go up a hill with no gas.

Agreed. Not sure about current tests, but in my day letting the steering wheel slide through your fingers, or crossing your arms doing hand over hand was a fail.

In my experience, push pull is much harder for learners to pick up. Hand over hand has the main advantage of allowing you to reference the rotation of the steering and hence the position of your wheels. There is NO required steering method to pass your practical, the important thing is to demonstrate control.

Loving the series. He's gota learn to turn and look out the back window when reversing, he just stares forward or out the side, you gota look where your going. Other than that there's three bits of advice. First don't spend so much time on 3 point turns, there isn't a turn in road of anytype on the test anymore and he clearly needs to build up more basic skills that are on the test before spending time learning stuff that while useful isn't on the test. Secondly the modern theory test is all about revision if you are struggling with it. I went from knowing nothing to passing my theory with just over a week. I just spent 2 hours a night running through a good theory program. It's the way to do it. The only reason to fail the modern theory is not enough prep/revision. Thirdly he's got to work on his looking around, he dosnt use his mirrors, he never and I mean never looks over his shoulder for a blindspot check. That's an instant fail especially after an emergency stop on test. Most people fail on observations or something they would have avoided with good observations and he has basically none. Keep practicing.

Some progress made! Need more input from the instructor. 1. Practice the clutch bitting point when stationary. 2. Remember POM (prepare the bitting point, check the mirror including blind spot, and move slowly). 3. Remember when turning right or left at junction, first check the main mirror and the side mirror you are intented to turn, indicate, reduce the speed about 11 to 9mph then turn. Need to know reduce the gear (3 to 2 or 2 to 1).

creep up to the give way lines with clutch control and hold the car at the bite point, but only hold bite point for a pause and it there is no gap in about 5-6 seconds then clutch down and footbrake then handbrake up and only set the gas and bite when you see your ready to go or if really good gas and bite and be able to hold when gap is near.

Said it before and ill say it again, some people just aren't cut out for driving. Failing a theory test 4 times just shouldn't be allowed ffs lool. Also his steering and all round awareness is as bad as it gets. He's improved in other aspects but he would worry me on the roads, even if he somehow passed.

Regardless of whether some of his driving is questionable, he's never going to pass unless he learns how to use his mirrors properly - he doesn't check enough (or at all sometimes) and that can be very dangerous. Once or twice you MIGHT get away with (depending on the situation), but all the time will turn into a serious fault and a fail... he needs to get better at the basics. That said, he is definitely better than the first lesson still, so some improvements are showing at least.
@shayanlatif1484
@shayanlatif1484 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you. But at this point, at least Jeremy asked Juvenal if he checked the mirrors. To be fair, both should be taught the basics of how often they should check the mirrors.
