Doesn't get the respect he deserves, never heard a player talk bad about him, most teams went backwards after he left, what he did at Bolton being able to attract players like Djorkaeff, Okacha, Campo, Anelka, etc to a Bolton and get them into Europe was simply astonishing

I saw Bolton vs Portsmouth back in the day, Bolton scored early (Kevin Nolan I think). After that it was 11 men behind the ball & constant time wasting. That was the most boring game of football I've ever seen in my life. Give me Pep and his version of football anyday.

I think it’s lazy to say Allardyce is a dinosaur, a fossil who’s been left behind, as many on here have. He’s actually very forward thinking, and pioneered a lot of sports science stuff 20 years ago. The difference is, Allardyce isn’t wedded to a particular football ideology, and because he labels a lot of modern styles as “tippy tappy” he gets called a fossil.

sick to death of backwards passing and bare minimum football by millionaires. Players back then were always looking to go forward and take responsibility. This football is becoming like society - no character, robotic and everyone doing the same. And this generation will lap it up because they don't know any better

“Tippy Tappy” football also requires a lot of Tactical Fouling where, when the team does actually lose possession they immediately foul the opposition player with the ball so as to stop all counter attacks and get time to reset into a defensive set up. Also they only concede a free kick far away from their own goal. They will ‘rotate’ on a prearranged basis who commits the foul so as not to have a player sent off from acquiring 2 yellow cards. Guardiola did that with all of his teams- Barcelona, Bayern, Man City. It was pure cynical win-at-all-costs cheating and it was f**king infuriating to watch at the time but the referees let it happen.

I think the way Holland played in the 1970's was one of the best styles of football I have seen, but they had some brilliant players.

I agree with him to some degree.I love fast on the deck football but tippy tappy is something else.Its usually safety based,slow and boring to watch Its like watching a possession based training session.

Evertonian here, I always liked Big Sam, Never understood the negative press. He got us up to 8th with a pretty awful side. No issues from Me that we played the way we did, He couldn't of got a pretty tune out of THAT side....I would love another top 8 finish !!!
