The return of spring always gets my blood flowing! 😀 It’s an amazing time to be out in nature. It’s even better when we locate so many unknown waterfalls and rock formations. It was a great day out in Big South Fork!

It really was! One hike and one discovery led to map studies and all these unknown waterfalls and rock formations. Big South Fork is still full of uncharted discoveries! Not only is it home to me, but with all this, I have little reason to go anywhere else.

Thanks Steve. There’s a lot going on in that area. It’s a tough off trail hike but there are no dull moments! Those two staircase type waterfalls are something I found on a topo map and thought there was the possibility of a nice waterfall. I got two! Nicole and Tim just happened to drive by as we came out of the woods. Now that was a welcome surprise and the way to cap off a great day of off trail exploring! It was so good to see them again. Thanks Scott! I’ll be going back after some heavy rains. They should be amazing then! It’s an awesome area, no doubt. Pretty much an uncharted area! BSF still has places like this.. I want to find them!

I hope to get back out there sometime after some good rain to see what these waterfalls look like then! I believe they’ll be even better! I hope you’ll enjoy that video too Hershel. I’m looking at maps and identifying potential areas with waterfalls all the time. There are more, I can feel it!

Thank you William! All I did was some topographical map study, hiked there with my good friend and there the waterfalls were! It was an amazing day!

It couldn’t have been a better day to be out in the great outdoors! We had no idea about all the rock formations and only what a topo map hinted at potential waterfalls. It was a tough, off trail hike but the rewards were off the chart! I can’t wait to see what the waterfalls are like after some good rains!

As you pulled into the parking area I thought “That looks like Tim!” and was still surprised as he got out of the car! What a great surprise it was! 😃 Not a better way to end the day. That was Nichole pulling out as you were pulling in. I wish you could have met her. She has followed me, and I have followed her through some of BSF most tough and rugged places! We almost always find what we set out for too! Tim is kind of a quiet guy but he’s always right there in the mix. Nothing wrong with that! It’s obvious he’s a great guy! Those waterfalls haven’t been visited in years and I know of anyone who has ever photographed them. I found the potential for waterfalls there by looking at topography maps and we took a chance there would be one. To our surprise there were two in sequence! We plan to go back when there has been some good rainfall. They will be spectacular then! You and Tim can surprise me again sometime! Or better than that, let me know when you’re going to be here and we can hike together. Of course I’ll be off the trail for a couple months in late spring and early summer. I’ll be back though, hopefully stronger than ever! Thank you Nicole. Seeing you and Tim again was a heart warming experience. Let’s not wait nearly 2 years before we meet again! That rock house is huge! It goes back pretty deep into the ridge too. Pretty amazing! The waterfalls are the result of our first hike out there just to see what we could find. That hike led to two more and the discovery of the awesome cliff rows. Like we always say, in BSF one hike leads to another!
