AWD Corolla hybrid wagon is what people want in the US. Give us the option.

That wagon is getting me warm and fuzzy inside. My last car was a Corolla Fielder hybrid. Moved to the US and there's nothing like it here.

If the Corolla looks like the Prius, then they might as well have it as a wagon. We’re so invested on SUVs and storage capabilities, the Sedan Econobox should play a similar role. Rather than just be a simple people mover. I like my Costco runs to fit all in the trunk.

My brother just bought a hybrid corolla wagon, its such a good car.

I love how all these car companies act like there’s no market for a wagon in North America, but they also forget how well the Alltrack and Golf Sportwagens sold in their waning years. Bring us a Corolla Wagon!!!

I'd love an AWD sport wagon

I came back from Japan about a month ago and i saw so many Corolla wagons! The corolla even has their own "C" badging over the toyota emblem. And so many toyota crowns!

I feel bad for you guys in the states for not getting the Touring Sports. Here in Europe is super popular. I'd say 1 out of 4 Corollas is a Touring Sports.

I like the front design looks more menacing than the camry. I am glad that Toyota realized an econobox doesn't have to look lame.

I wish Toyota would make a "si" version of the Corolla. Something that's fwd and is noticeably quicker than the regular Corolla but a little slower than the Subaru WRX and Corolla GR.

If they can put the LBX 1.5 inline 3 engine in the new Corolla with a more Powerful Electric Motor that would be great. It is quite responsive engine in the LBX (134hp), but give it at least 150~160HP, that would offer great fuel economy and good engine response in the Corolla.

Back home I have a Toyota Auris hybrid from 2017., an absolutely awesome car by all standards. 7 years, 220 thousand kilometers, no issues whatsoever. I have recently moved to Canada due to work and am in process of buying a new car. The new Prius 20'24. is darm good, from both outside and inside, I was driven in one just yesterday and it's absolutely gorgeous. The only problem I have with it is the dashboard, I think a 12 inch screen that the Highlander/Grand Highlander have is a better choice, this is just too small. The new design they've shown here really feels and looks like a 2024 Prius, which I find to be a positive thing. Toyota has always been on a more conservative side when it comes to vehicle design, I am happy that they decided to shake it up a bit :-) It seems that the new 1.5 liter turbo engines will be a blast and given the history of reliability, I don't think going to a smaller size will prove to be an issue. Mistakes can always happen but it seems that another 1.5 years is enough to iron out all issues and do a good job, the one we expect from Toyota at this point. All in all, fantastic and exciting times for Toyota ahead, can't wait to see what they have in store next!

My wish list to Toyota would be either a AWD Corolla Station-wagon or Prius Station-wagon.

Station Wagon (of Prius refresh look almost) - you know Honda made the Civic at one point look very much like a station wagon (1993) - they did a wagon too - but the wagon got the box and bulge look. Gosh Corolla - next Elantra and so on - to compete with SUV you it make sense - also sedans have not have that "nice notch" like in the old days which was so nice - so just make them wagons with ideally a way to get the ground clearance ups as much as you can without hitting the mpg too much. I would almost make a "snow belt" edition - maybe Canada gets that version exclusively say.

It kind of makes sense that the RAV4 will be the first to receive the new style of engine, back in 2009 the RAV4 was the first model to get 2.5L Inline 4.

Kirk, I got a new job where I am basically getting to test drive most regular cars on the market...out of everything I have driven, the Mazda 3 has been my favorite....styling aside (which is great), it is one of the only modern cars, where the ledge to lay your arm once the window rolls down is actually low enough to be comfortable, and it is wide as well, plus it gets wider to where your hand is....I can tell they designed it with people who like to roll down the windows in mind. The only other cars at work I have driven that have the rest for the arm low like that in the window are the Challenger and Charger....but it is best done in the Mazda 3.

I was really hoping for the new V8 Corolla because my 2.0 liter isn’t torquey enough for me 😂.

I do believe wagons can make a comeback in the US. Most young people I know own sedans still, and they know their benefits without being enthusiasts: they handle better and they get far better fuel economy. These things matter. People move up to SUVs because they don't want a trunk. Wagons can snatch up a significant minority of buyers quickly IF marketed properly and eventually proliferate over time because of cultural shifts. I've seen way more Volvo V60s on the road recently, people are interested.

I'm driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports 1.8 Hybrid. To me this design is almost similar to the current one. Seems Toyota is doing the same as they did with the Camry, new front and back and side is almost identical.

The Corolla cross is the closest we're getting to the wagon in North America😢

I used to own a 2023 Corolla Hybrid LE with the Convenience Package. It was a great, smooth, and economical car, achieving over 60 mpg; at times, I even reached 89, 91, and 97 mpg. However, when it comes to wagons, it's a whole different world. I love wagons for their space and versatility. This is exactly what the Toyota Corolla needs-because one major drawback was the lack of trunk space and room for rear passengers' heads! It's a shame that Toyota won't bring the wagon to the US. Many people would prefer a Corolla wagon over the Corolla Cross, Prius, and even the RAV4 due to its pricing. They have great sales of the Corolla Hybrid wagon in Japan and Europe.

Kirk, just stumbled across this video. Any news on a RAV4 hybrid-based competitor against Ford’s Maverick?

My predictions/wishes for the powertrain applications: Next Yaris/Yaris Cross - same NA 1.5 3 cylinder hybrid setup maybe GR version with new 1.5 NA 4 cylinder hybrid setup with around 160 hp Next LBX with new 1.5 NA 4 cylinder hybrid setup as standard Next Corolla(sedan, hatch, station car and Cross) and Lexus UX with new 1.5 NA 4 cylinder hybrid setup instead of the 1.8 hybrid setup. I think they’ll keep the current 2.0 hybrid setup for a higher output version. The new 1.5 turbo hybrid is reserved for the K platform cars for sure but could be used for a sporty GR Corolla hybrid/ GR Prius The current 1.5 NA 3 cylinder is quite new and very efficient so I don’t think they replace it for the B platform cars

Something to add. Many people commenting on the European wagon spec. The Japanese spec (JDM) is a smaller version of the Euro one. In fact, the current wagon sold in Japan its based on the current hatchback (so it has same wheel base, with same small leg room for the back seats). I own in New Zealand, a JDM spec (imported to nz as a second hand from Japan), and I must say, its probably way more sporty than the European one, but not as practical as the European one. I'm wondering if the new generation will have one style only, or they will keep the small version for Japan/New Zealand/Australia and bigger one for Europe.

If they bring it to N.A, it'll be the perfect daily driver! If it has a hybrid, will it have a spare? Living in the Desert West, a spare is critical. The engine upgrades are nice and welcomed. But we MUST have that spare. I absolutely love it. We will get 2 to replace our 2 Civics should it arrive.

That looks like BYD's fifth generation DMi hybrid system.

It looks almost as if they took the European 2014 Civic Tourer and they gave it a Prius facelift. That's pretty cool but I still think the 2019-2024 were the prettiest corollas to date.

Europe is mostly hybrid, New Zealand and Australia is hybrid only, but in Japan they have petrol 1.2 and 1.8, and 1.8 hybrid.

So the next gen Corolla will be hybrid only with 1.5 NA hybrid? If so, will Honda follow suit? I expect the manual GR 3 cylinder to stay gas only and remain the same.

I think K platform is going to be split between the 1.5T and 2.0T. Camry, RAV4, Lexus ES, and Lexus UX would get the 1.5T. Highlander, Grand Highlander, Sienna, Signia, NX, RX, and IS would get the 2.0T.

I still have my 2009 Vibe AWD with only 115k miles on it. Would have looked at the new Corolla Hatchback but it does not have the space of the Vibe (Matrix) or it's AWD or even it's sunroof. Maybe this new version might work. I suppose there is the Corolla Cross but...

Gosh, it looks like Kirk is reading from a Japanese Domestic Market magazine, and expecting everything he sees in it to show up in the North American market, almost immediately. That hasn't happened before, and won't likely happen now. While styling and models can change with the times, Toyota has usually implemented "new generations" of technology on a far more careful time line, and we don't get any of that stuff until it has been proven for years in other markets -- mostly Japan. But bear in mind how you can find "the same vehicles" that are in the North American market in many other markets -- with vastly different drive trains. Consider a RAV4, for instance, and you'll find it all over the world, but with substantially different drive trains in different markets. As for other things -- no, we won't see a Toyota station wagon in North America. Perhaps something "close," like in the new (to North America) Crown series. But there will be no Corolla wagon in the North American market. Heck, Toyota won't even give us a truly "small" vehicle at all anymore -- nothing like a Yaris, and certainly nothing like the C-HR. Even the Lexus UX doesn't have the kinds of features you can get in the Prius, such as the 360-degree camera system. "Can we get a premium small crossover?" Nope. Then there is the new Prius -- quite obviously, Toyota introduced a new styling philosophy with it, and we have already seen a number of new model generations with styling based upon that philosophy. "I'm a fan," as a lot of the previous styling has been almost nonsensical. No, I don't want "weeping taillights" and so on. So, I call the Prius styling philosophy a welcome return to styling sanity by Toyota.
