Well done sir. I watched the whole video mostly at faster speed, and in sections. You even climbed Zig Zag Road (Boxhill) quicker than me. It was to areas I know and others areas I have never been to. Once again well done and thanks for posting this video.

Well done Sir, this scouser salutes you.....and the weather played very nice this year :)

Weather this year was so much better than in 2018! I was on a later wave and there were two serious crashes so we never did Leith Hill. Still, my favourite cycling event.
@gamma_dablam5 жыл бұрын
The first 19 miles of the 46 were my quickest. I did those in just over an hour. But then I had an energy crash in Richmond Park and then again several times till reaching Hampton Court when I finally recovered-ish. I only just strung myself over the finish. The mental game was seriously hard to play. I really need to build up my endurance game for the 100 next year. Even the 46 was tough for me because of my dreadful pacing strategy Apparently Leith and Box Hill both got shut later due to accidents 😕

+Aayush Ganesh didn't know about the hills being closed. That's a shame.
@gamma_dablam5 жыл бұрын
bigblokeonabike indeed it is. I personally find both Leith and Box Hill incredibly satisfying, albeit rather unfun in the case of the former due to the steep ramps at the top

It was a mess. Riders were stopped after Ripley for about 30 minutes - accident(s) plus narrow roads - and had to be directed past LH due to congestion (so I heard). Went up BH though.

Must be a different ride to the one I did on Sunday. All those clear roads, empty hubs bet you even got a medal !

mrcellophane99 a friend of mine had same issues. Closed roads, lots of delays and no medal at the end 🙀

Just a suggestion: could you add times for some of the highlights, like hills and well known places? To be honest, I am probably not going to watch all 5+ hours.
@bigblokeonabike5 жыл бұрын
+Henrik Bjerregaard yeah, I can do that tomorrow. The distance guage should let you find specific parts of the route though. I have previously done a specific video of the climbs.

Great video buddy and good to see a clear run with no incidents. With that time to complete, I’m guessing you do a lot of training?
@bigblokeonabike5 жыл бұрын
+Run Guru Run I only did one 80 mile training ride. Other than that I did the BHF London to Brighton ride. I commute about 100 miles a week to work. That's my "training"!
@PoetWithPace5 жыл бұрын
@@bigblokeonabike ahhhh, you have put the miles in! I get some grief on social meds from those who do "hard training" for months and yet took much longer than you. Just goes to show that regular short rides pays off than one or two bulk ones a week, which only fatigue some. For my Midlands Velo 100 i only done one ride of 50 ish miles and a couple of short ones as i didn't get my bike till 10 days before event!

Excellent video. Non stop 100 miles, nice one. What do you carry with you for drinks and foods etc if you do this ride without using the refueling points ? I am entered for 2020 and am looking for any tips.
@bigblokeonabike5 жыл бұрын
+Lightyear66 no, I did stop twice. At 50 miles and at 75. Normally I would never do 50 miles without stopping but as the weather was quite overcast I didn't get through as much water as I normally do.
@Lightyear665 жыл бұрын
@@bigblokeonabike I must have missed those bits in the video then. Couldn't really watch it 100% all the way through at work, but the mph indicator gave a nice indicator of what to expect !! Did you take in food at the stops too or carry your own ?
@bigblokeonabike5 жыл бұрын
+Lightyear66 I forgot to put a gradient indicator on... I took some Cliff Blocks with me expecting to get more from the hubs as previously they have had them. Unfortunately they didn't have them this year. I'd recommend taking the food you're used to as you can't guarantee what you'll get on the ride.

@@bigblokeonabike What is he on about? It's bad enough to not talk about the ride in general. Worse to don't even know what a bike GPS/tracker/heart rate monitor is. On top of that, it's fitted to the bike, like car instruments. It's not a hand held device! Did you know that you can touch anything fixed to the car, even mobiles in cradles,satnav, or dashcams, but not hand hold any devices. Still not advisable if distracting. The term is "handheld"! Once again, welldone for the ride. 👍
