Starting on the new sleeve and taking a look at the crankcase repair so far.

2STROKE STUFFING Yeah it gives a lot clearer edge than using a pencil :) I think this was the first time I actually had to go and make my finger dirtier on purpose though ;)

I had some friends who owned a small engine workshop & they used to push the sleeve into the 2 stroke barrel & fill the ports with a copper sulphate solution, This would mark all the port shapes as they are in the barrel and not rub off when the sleeve was pushed out,

You are what I consider a real mechanic. You take tools that make the job hard as hell and get it done !!!! Awesome as far as I am concerned. I love the videos. Keep them coming. I found you via Alex from 2 stroke stuffing.

Mark Durham Thanks for the kind words! My problem is I'm a cheap-ass ;) I'd love to own a nice CC specialties porting kit because proper tools definitely make life a lot easier but I think they're just a little too pricey for a hobbyist. So I gotta make do with what I have. Luckily I don't charge myself for work hours put in because then those kits would've paid for themselves after one cylinder like this :)

Excellent! The milling machine makes fast work of opening those ports, the repair is going quickly, keep it up 👍 -- Got a kick of the dirty fingers for port mapping ;)

Benoît Genest Yeah it beats hand tools for doing the bulk of the work :) I find a dirty finger to work a lot better than a pencil when possible. Normally I have the dirtiest fingers because I hate gloves and don't have running water in the garage.

Getting closer man this is a great series of videos getting all jumpy to watch you start it up and twist the wick cant wait for the next one the remedy to being a gear head is working in your shop small price to pay for that beautiful music coming out that exhaust pipe! Atb Russ

Russ White thanks! I'm looking forward to it too :) there probably won't be any more updates until the weekend, but I'm going to try and do some more work on the sleeve tomorrow. I still have lots of work left to do, but still hoping to get it started by Sunday night :)

JB Weld??? Why not just weld it for real?

Mostly because I didn't have a TIG welder when I did this ;) But the JB weld is still holding up just fine so I'm not in a hurry to real-weld it anyway.

@@Hollaendaren i just dont have any good experience with jb weld inside 2 stroke cranckcases... Failed on me every time so the loose parts ended up getting stuck in the cylinder/head and bend a crank...

I actually have the exact opposite experience myself, I've used it in several engine builds and never had any issues with it really. I rough up the surface pretty good to give it something to grab onto, it doesn't stick well too smooth surfaces.
