Buddy of mine ran one of these CT2ks at 0.5ohm and 16v for well over a year on 2 xv3 12s doing consistent 148s at 28hz from the trunk. It blew recently. But still the amount of abuse it took was outstanding.

I remember when I was young and worked in car audio, for quality amps, a dollar per watt wasn't uncommon. I'm still amazed at how much prices have fallen on amplifiers. High end subs can still be relatively expensive, but even those aren't as crazy as they used to be back in the late 90s to early 2000s.

The power these things push out for pennies never ceases to amaze me. I came from 1987 when in high school I had 4 Becker 10s in the back seat of a 1969 bug when it was $1 per watt. Pushing 250 watts on those back then with a proton amplifier, I forget the model. Good times but expensive. $250 back then was a lot of money.

EXCELLENT VIDEO. CT Sounds equipment is for real. I needed a pair of "stronger bass" 6x9's. I chose a pair of their "MESO" series 6x9's. These are (by far) the BEST sounding 6x9's I have ever worked with. DEEP bass (in the 30-40 Hz range) all day long. The silk dome tweeters are very good silkies, but I found the NVX 6x9's sound a pinch better. The best part...the MESOs are rated for 100w RMS each. Whatever. I push them well over 150w with no bottoming out. I switched amplifiers (400w per channel) to see what would happen. The finally started to "slap" and bottom out at about 300w RMS. The output from these MESOS are insane from a pair of 6x9's. In some applications, you can save money by not needing a subwoofer/box...just a high power 2 or 4 channel amp (300 wpc is about right) and some EQ and you'll be cooking. 23% OFF! WOOT!

As someone who's personally owned this amp for 2+ years, if you're asking if it'll move your subs well... Yeah, it does. I've killed 2 subwoofers with it (1 being 1000w RMS and one being 1250w RMS) doing frequency sweeps while wired at 2ohms, and presently it's making 2 1500w RMS subs bottom out while wired at 1ohm. Never once has it sounded less than great (except for during the destruction episodes 😅). IMHO, it's a fantastic buy with the added benefit of not needing to raise the gain past halfway to get some healthy boom action.

@@Derrick.12 My thanks, I'm pretty happy with it. Though what I'm most pleased with is the detail I have dialed in with features like time correction and artificial elevation. In a way, it's a surreal experience, as it's almost impossible to describe what effect it has to be listening to music in such an environment. Effectively, I've made it so where the sounds from all 8 speakers hits your ears at exactly the same millisecond, providing a surround sound effect that I've only ever heard replicated in one other vehicle; a car audio company's show-piece car that was half the size of what my system is in. The guy taking it on a national tour was so impressed that he even asked for my number to talk shop. I have the subs turned down to -11 for the best blending effect of all the music, but even then you can still "feel me" in the car next to it at half volume. 😏 Not gonna get any SPL leaderboards, but it's my own little audio nirvana. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Anyone that asks about it in person I try to give a demo to, and I'm always enjoying the reactions I get from it.

@JasonWW2000 8 ай бұрын
Very strange. Do you know it's history? Who bought it? How old is it? Do you think its built by the same company as Crown home audio? There's been tons of generic amplifiers sold around the world and they use all kinds of names to make you think its from a certain manufacturer. The name Crown is pretty generic so I could see someone using that name to try and improve sales. Try taking the cover off and see if there are names inside and if it looks like a quality design or put together very cheaply.

It was purchased at an estate sale along with a/d/s PH-15. It has the same logo Crown and it's 6 channel amp. I purchased the PH15 from him but I'm very interested in purchasing the crown amp. I can tell it was made in the 80's or early 90's because of the molex plugs. Similar to the Orion and PPI. This amplifier is brand new and is as big as a home amplifier. We can't come up with a price because we can't find any info. From my understanding Crown was bought out by another company. I wish I knew the year and maybe one of the older car audio directories might have it listed. I was hoping Big D could find one in the car audio directories. I appreciate your input.

It's really cool when a company sells you something that's advertised for a 1000 Watts but in reality it puts out a couple hundred Watts more they could easily change their ratings and prices around but they don't they take care of their customers
@JasonWW2000
@JasonWW2000 9 ай бұрын
If they want to be really fair about it they almost have to lower the power ratings simply because you get a certain amount of variance between amplifiers. One might do 1600 W and the next might do 1400 Watts. So there's always a little variation.

Compare and contrast by your own research (not some Reddit query), but 3 contenders for you would be: 1. Deaf Bonce Atom 2.5K Pro ($238 from Big Jeff) 2. Deaf Bonce AAP-1600.1D Atom Plus ($143 from GPAudio) or 3. JL Audio JD1000/1 ($400 from Sonic Electronics) Make the decision based off of what matters most to you: cost, upgradability, features, size constraints, and *not* by things like looks, brand loyalty/recognition, or origin of country. All of these options I've listed meet your requirements and will do a fine job provided proper installation of your use case. ✌🏻

@@RAW_Reality I've seen a few that he called "under the radar" that were right in the $100-$125 range that preformed very well. I would like a clip light on the remote (idk why they're not wireless by more) so I'll know where to keep it set. I like to run my amps at about 75% on gain to avoid crunch. I bought that sub in 16" but rolled my overland rig. I just put it away, it was barely breaking in. I prefer Sq over spl by far. Budget minded tho lol

Ive go a question! Im old way older than you. I wouldnt mind a sub if I could get one that just hits hard and clean like a drum not all the vibrating stuff. Any sugestions? I have a good 4 speaker system with quality head unit and small 50w 4chl amp. I dont have a issue with spending money but I want good acurate bass. I see all the kids with cars vibrating Thats not what I want. any sugestions? Ive been to lots of good concerts and never heard the stages shacking from vibrating boom boom boom from Van Halen AC/DC etc.I do remember coming home deaf though LOL New to all this all over again.

Basically you're saying you prefer mid and upper bass and not so much the low bass. Sealed subwoofer enclosures are probably going to be what you're looking for because they roll off the low bass naturally compared to a ported enclosure. You're going to want to focus all of your bass output in the 40 Hz to 100 Hz range. As long as you're not trying to do this in a large SUV you shouldn't have any issues.
@JasonWW2000
@JasonWW2000 9 ай бұрын
If you don't need a massive amount of output you might consider something like a single 10 or single 12 inch sub in a slightly oversized sealed enclosure. You might be fine with a couple hundred watts of power going to it, so due to impedance rise and how you're going to match it up to the amplifier, you should probably look into a monoblock amplifier in the 400 W to 800 W range. Make sure the amp has a remote bass knob so that you can mount it up front and be able to easily adjust it. An amplifier with an adjustable subsonic filter can also allow you to filter off the really low bass.
@JasonWW2000
@JasonWW2000 8 ай бұрын
I also wanted to mention that there's nothing wrong with having a subwoofer system that can play low frequencies. Strong output at 25 to 30 hertz is just fun and is part of the original recording. You obviously don't have to crank it up so loud that it's vibrating your car. You can adjust it so that you have nice smooth frequency response all the way down low to really enhance all music.

No it's not. You're making a rookie mistake. If you compare those two amplifiers you can clearly see they're made by different companies with different components. There's a good chance that both models are clones of a older amplifier design. So if you look at the internal layout you'll notice a lot of basic similarities. Each company is basically doing their own version of that older original design. Each company may also be doing their own small changes to it, as well.

@JasonWW2000 8 ай бұрын
@@mattfarley6068Do I need to prove you wrong or do you need to prove me wrong? I can give two different companies an amplifier schematic and tell them to make me an amplifier based on that. The end result will be two very similar looking amplifiers with the same basic layout of components. They may even output very similar power levels. Are they the same amplifier? If you're a layman, and don't know anything about amplifiers, then I could see where you would just assume they were the same. If your knowledgeable about amplifiers, maybe a repair tech, then you will realize that even though they're similar looking they are completely different. I'm talking different thicknesses of the pcb, different brand of capacitors, different style of transformers, different FETs on the input and output section, different features in the preamp section, different protection devices, etc, etc... The point I'm trying to make is that they actually are very different amplifiers. They may have different features and different levels of reliability. One may run cooler than the other. One might be easily shooken apart while the other might be as solid as a tank. One might include a clip light while the other doesn't. One might have short circuit protection while the other doesn't. One might have noticeably less distortion figures than the other. One might have a higher noise floor than the other. One might be more prone to alternator whine than the other. On and on... I hope I can educate people so they won't just assume stuff is the "same".

With 3.5mm (or 1/8") at least when the end breaks you can easily fix it, rather than having to rip out and replace the entire damn cable. Plus it's not like 3.5mm doesn't have a locking feature, my Beats headphones have it, plug in and twist
