The "American Range Rover" just got a full redesign with a more premium interior, more capable off-road systems, and soon a plug-in hybrid system will join the party. Most folks will be happy to know that the Grand Cherokee still comes with V6 or V8 engines, rear wheel drive and more doo-dads than most folks will ever need. Want the plug-in hybrid or semi-autonomous driving option? You'll need to wait until later 2022...

Wow, Jeep is really knocking it out of the park with the interiors of all their new vehicles. The Grand Cherokee was luxury-lite before but it’s full on luxury now in the upper trim.

Thanks for the great review! Glad someone finally talked about the alfa components. I know jeeps are going to be great offroad, but the onroad handling was always a dealbreaker for me. Currently have an alfa stelvio which i love but thinking about switching to this new jeep. Do you think the handling/cornering is anywhere near the alfa stelvio? Closer to a bmw/audi/mercedes? Or is this just a slight improvement from the typical jeep? Thanks again!

From what the price range it have, and the size, this car is a bit like the Wagoneer series, which compete in two classes at the same time, the lower trim one comfortably competes with the palisade, CX-9, Telluride etc, while the higher trim competes closer to X5, Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90

A decade ago I would have LOL'ed at any comparison between a Jeep and a Land Rover ( Range Rover?? PLEASE!!!). However, I have to give credit where it is due. Jeep/Dodge are no longer the low quality laughingstock they've been my whole life. When Fiat bought them out of the ashes, they put a global supply chain of high quality parts into those brands for the first time in----well----EVER. ZF transmissions, Bilstein shocks, Bosch electronic controls, etc. the whole panoply of the Fiat parts bin now flowed into what used to be the "cheapo" domestic. Now, Stellantis and their 11M cars a year juggernaut is going to keep that trend going. Let's see how this holds up 6 or 8 years from now for the final verdict; but I'm laughing no more.

The new GC is significantly more expensive. The Trailhawk starts at $51,670. My '18 Trailhawk started at $43,295: $8500 less...! This is a big jump. New, more refined platform, but practically, you only get a bit more ground clearance and the adjustable sway bars. In ’18 Jeep didn’t charge for paint (now $400). Destination charge is now an outrageous $1800! ($1100 on the '18), a profit center for Jeep. Also, it's worth noting that if you want a (sluggish) V8, it's not available on the Limited anymore, meaning you'll have pay a lot more for a higher trim level to get it. This is a lot of scratch for what cannot be described as Toyota levels of quality. No Thanks.
