Bigger doesn't mean better, buying a pocket yacht, Hutchins Compac 16

Welcome back to another video. Since getting out of the Navy I had been wanting to get back onto the water, so I have had a plethora of boats trying to do it affordably and easily, well those 2 statements don't come easy with boats. I think I have finally figured it out. I am downsizing from my compac 23 to a 16 in hopes of easier launching an recovery.

Your 16 is great shape! Just got a '84 16' for $1,300 need small fiberglass work on the keel, paint and new rub rail. The easy of trailing byself was the big appeal. Great video fellow squidly, AE2.

Great little boats! Just picked one up(1981), needs a bit of work. This one looks in great condition.

Those are great boats. I had one for a while. Good sailing boats. The only downside to me was it was so small inside. That was a very good buy. Hard to find one that good for that price

They're nice, well built little boats. Just bought a turnkey, 2003 ComPac Suncat. Haven't had it in the water yet, will probably have to wait until spring. Planning on some overnights and maybe week long camping trips. Looks like yours is ready to go. Fair winds!

Congratulations on your new purchase.My only problem with it is that, I have a 16ft boat,& every time I take it out I wish I had a bigger boat. 16ft is tiny out on the water. You will probably use it a few times, u will see what I’m talking about. I wouldn’t sell the bigger one just yet.You might regret it. Anywho, congratulations- nice sailboat.✌️

I started out on a 16ft sailboat, the problem with my 23 ft is, if I want to pull it out and take it somewhere else to adventure it is such a hassle, where with the 16ft, it is the perfect trailer sailor. The 23ft needs almost 5 feet of water to come off the trailer on a boat ramp and 2-3 people to hoist the mast.

I'm waaaaaaay behind on your videos, since the last I saw you only had a small one like this new one. Guessing you sold that one and bought the 23 footer? Don't answer that........I'll catch up on the videos and figure it out!! Lookin forward to seeing where you take this new 16 footer!!
