Bought the 4K when it came out. Predator is my go to movie to just sit back and watch when going to bed. I watch it basically twice a week! Lol Most watched movie for me.

One of my favorite 4k releases! During the final fight scene when predator takes his helmet off and you see the creatures face in glorious 4k with all the details and texture is absolutely mind blowing! Audio was very good too, no complains here... Great review!

It's worth mentioning that in 1985, Kodak changed the formula of their T-grain structure and as a result, most of the films shot on Kodak for the period of 1985-1987 were pretty grainy, especially in low-light. You'll really notice this on PREDATOR and ALIENS among others of the period. James Cameron mentioned this in his ALIENS commentary, so the grain on PREDATOR is a sign of the times.

Great review, this was actually the first 4K I watched! That 2010 Blu - gawd everything looked like waxy plastic. In this, everything is detailed and lifelike - you really feel you are in that jungle, being hunted. Surprised to see critics here - I think this release shows what the new format is capable of.

The issue with the previous release was it was primarily remastered for the 3D release. In order to do the manual conversion for 3D they had to remove the noise in order to seperate the elements. You can also see this to a lesser degree in the latest T2 release that also recieved a 3D conversion. Unfortunately current noise reduction techniques result in smoother almost waxy looking faces.

I picked up the new 4K four film collection and of course the first one I popped in was the original and I was over the moon about what I saw! That excessive DNR was now gone! To have this film in such clarity, accuracy and without that DNR is a dream, I doubt it'll ever look better than it does here. Great review man, mimics my thoughts exactly.

I got this in the UK in a box set with Predator 2 and Predators. It had all movies on 4k with the Blu-rays and digital copies. Predator in this 4k transfer is a great transfer.

Hey Jeff! I really enjoy my 4k copy of Predator. I also thought they did a good job on the image. The HDR really helped the dark scenes. Preadator 2 4K is the one that amazed me though. The 4k version looks better than it did on the big screen when I saw it on it's original release. Predator is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies.

I picked up the pack that (thankfully) only had the first 3 films, even though I already owned them all on DVD but knew I had to upgrade. Predator is, in my opinion, the best action film ever made. I put the 4k disc in when I got it, just to see how nice it looked and ended up watching the whole film because I simply couldn't turn it off. It looks incredible, and so does Predator 2 and Predators.

Yeah, the whole 10min review forgot to add that 1 really important detail, that if you dont own a 4k player yet, and can only watch the 2k disc for the moment, well that bundled 2k disc is the same good old Ultimate Hunter edition, that the 70% of this review is constantly bashing.

This is my fav movie. Liked old BR 2008 but on JVC 2000 this 4K HDR gets played once a week . Love the muzzle flashes. Based on your reviews we like the same features, good job

Hey Jeff! Picked up Bad Boys For Life on 4k disc, and gave it a watch last night. It is an IMAX enhanced disc. I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-LX304 receiver with IMAX enhaced capability. The picture very is sharp, and detailed. Colors pop, HDR is awesome especially in dark scenes. The DTS-X soundtrack rocked my sound system that I just upgraded from 5.1.2 to 7.1.2! Have a great day man!

I have been looking for a reason to upgrade! Bought every new version of the Blu-rays and covers when they come out. I loved the covers and was hoping the 4K would be a good transfer. I currently own the Predator 3 movie collection, which features the 2010 Predator: Hunter Edition. The boxset has the Predator holding a skull with a spinal cord still attached. Love the box art. Hope the 3 movie 4K boxset has some cool art.

I had this in the predator trilogy blu ray pack and don't recall it being terrible. But maybe I'd notice more now lol. Grabbed this on the b2g1 deal at Target 2 weeks back (about $11) and stoked to watch it with my dad.

OST was Dolby Pro Logic at best. Possibly Dolby Stereo in '87. Pro Logic was only 4 channels [L-C-R & Surround/hence the out of phase surround speakers of the day to spread out the single rear channel information]. Lots of future 5.1 mixes were based off of Pro Logic soundtracks; separating rear channel info & summing all low frequencies to the .1. Great reviews; thank you!

is the included 1080p Bluray the old transfer or a downscale of the new 4k transfer? I'm tending to buy 4k now (which includes standard Bluray) for when the ps5 comes out. disc prices should go down with more 4k players in homes.

Predator was also shot in 1.85:1, which uses top and bottom crop-matting to achieve its widescreen, which unfortunately does not use the full image area of 35mm film and magnifies the grain. Haters--learn to love the grain!

Currently debating between the 4 movie 4K UHD disc set vs itunes 4k HDR. They both come with all for movies and both are all 4K. I have a 4K UHD player with my PS5 but I have an apple tv 4k also. Can’t decide 🤦🏽‍♂️

Got me a copy a few weeks ago, it's pretty good, a massive improvement over my Laser Discs! And it's a low cost release - I paid about £10 - again a whole lotta cheaper than my LD's. Relax and enjoy or if not happy 'get to the chopper' 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧

What do you think was worse between the two previous blu rays? My money’s always been on the Ultimate DNR Edition. Sure the codec sucks on the 2007 blu, but it still has more grain and detail than the UHE. Great review though, I agree it’s a huge upgrade all around.

@@adriel88_ i was about 17 and was with 3 other mates i remember the four of us didn't say a word we were totally engrossed in the movie it was very exciting film ,but when it was over and we where going home we didn't shut up about the film the whole way home. That and ALIENS where brilliant, you're right Kevin Peter hall was the unsung hero he brought that creature alive RIP.

@@colinbooth531 predator 2 smartly knew it couldn't capture the same lightning McTiernan did years before, and like Cameron's Aliens, it swerves so effortlessly into new territory that, at least for me, the end result is a product so imaginative in tone, visuals, and action that it absolutely deserves to stand alongside the original. The opening gang shootouts, the subway chase sequence, king Willy's death, the alien ship,"want some candy?"... muah *chef's kiss*

Did the Blu-Ray that came with the 4K Blu-Ray get an upgrade also? I got the 3D Blu-Ray and it's OK, watchable but not the best I've seen! Oh, I love 3D Blu-Ray Movies, my favorite format. Love your channel.
