Yes, these regions being the coastal area, have huge demand for Ice blocks to fill into the containers that ship seafood to many places. Hence many ice making factories. During my last visit to Udupi, there was a ice factory Opp to the Homestay I stayed and it produced ice blocks, curshes them into smaller pieces and loads into at least 10-15 trucks..

How a small vendor like a juice wala will use such big ice blocks and where will he keep them? I think this is for industrial use or maybe like fishes etc which anyways will be cooked in heat before eating
