She’s going to get out of prison at age 30. With no therapy for her trauma, no career, nothing past a kindergarten education, and nowhere to go. 10 years in prison instead of a facility to help her, is insane, and unfair.

@@Janellabelle True. In America, only the military and prison system is socialist and provides healthcare and education. I don't hold it against them. More power to them. Now we need the rest of America to catch up. If its good for the goose, it's good for the gander.

@InfusedSediment she doesn't need prison though. she needs therapy, prison won't help her at all because it's not even a punishment for her. she said she enjoys her time in prison a lot more than the time she spent at home, so i really don't get why they decided to lock her up. yes, she planned a murder but it was basically an act of self defence. only therapy can help her
@Hi-kl4mu
@Hi-kl4mu 3 жыл бұрын
@InfusedSediment well yeah just saying that by itself obviously makes her seem 100% guilty but she was tortured for 23 years. personally i can't blame her. what else could she have done? just let her mother treat her like a toy for the rest of her life? murder probably wasn't the best thing to do but her mother definitely needed to be punished somehow. she didn't just plan the murder of her mother, she planned the murder of a crazy, evil, abusive liar.

If ANYONE deserves to get off on a "not guilty by reason of insanity" plea, it's this poor woman! I don't know how a jury could see fit to lock this young woman up for a decade when she clearly snapped after a LIFETIME of being abused and poisoned in order to fund her mother's scams. Gypsy should have been sent to a psychiatric hospital to help her cope with her abusive past and learn to live a normal life. She clearly isn't a danger to the general public and it's outrageous that she's locked up alongside hardened criminals.

+Daniel Santos; you want to blame a girl who was screwed up by the tormenter she eventually had killed. That daughter was not safe for much longer and society had failed her. She had no incentive to follow an ethical code towards people who were unethical to her. If she gets treated like an animal in prison then it would be fair game for her to act like an animal in retaliation towards those abusers. It's shameful that another human as you would denigrate this poor fellow earthling for her desperate choice. Plus the conditions are not the same now. She can finally speak her mind to others and not be so estranged as to see no other choice but to murder a censoring captor who administers poison regularly and was even liable to murder that daughter in time to hide the truth and escape justice. Gypsy is a hero as much as a military veteran. One less terrorist in our midst thanks to her and Nick.

Have two feeding tubes (one into my stomach, one into my intestines) and they are torturous. Placing a tube into the intestines is an extremely hard surgery, and placing one into the stomach isn’t near as difficult but is extremely painful. Feeding tubes are usually held in by a balloon which can be inflated and deflated from the outside. For a stomach tube, they deflate it pull the old tube out, put the new one in, inflate the balloon and send you on your way. This is done every 4-6 months. They usually leak quite a bit and your stomach acid eats your skin. An intestinal tube is much more extensive and difficult to change. Usually done under live x-ray and the doctor uses a guide wire to get the tube down to into the intestines and to lay correctly. Tubes suck. I can’t imagine having to deal with them and all the pain and trouble they cause when you don’t need them and know you don’t.

I’m so torn on this whole thing. Nobody should be butchered to death but no “mother” should be allowed to get away with 1/10 of what that horrible deedee did. I really really feel like some actual therapy would have been a better choice than 10 years in prison. I know at least at one time Dr. Phil was in support of a reduced sentence for Gypsy, although in his podcast he seemed to put way more blame on Godejohn, and I’m not sure if he ever mentioned his autism or not. It’s a horrible story any which way you look, and the fact that deedee’s own siblings didn’t want her ashes? She must have been an evil piece of work from day one.

The problem with Casey Anthony was that the state made the wrong charges and therefore could not prove them. I fully blame the states attorney for her getting off. How can you prove 1st degree murder in a case where you can not prove how someone died. And when there is ANY doubt, the jury is required by law to find a person not guilty. The state should have changed Anthony with, disposing of the childs body and possibly neglect that resulted in death. But they over reached due to public opinion and outrage. Had they charged her with what they could prove, she would still be in prison today. Where she belongs. After throwing her baby away like so much trash.

If you watch the HBO documentary "Mommy Dead and Dearest" they interview one of her doctors who says he suspected something was off and DeeDee switched doctors shortly after the visit where he made that report. Doctors see thousands of patients, and if someone isn't a good historian, it's not like they have time to sit there and wonder if they're lying or not, especially if that patient doesn't have a concise chart, but rather files from a bunch of different doctors in a bunch of different states. The only person to blame here is the psychotic Munchausen by proxy mother.

Eleri Bowen I agree except she was still involved in a homicide and concealed it. I think if she had called the police immediately and acted like she acted out of self defense (which she did) she would have gotten a lighter sentence. This happens a lot and even though it makes sense why they did it, it's still against the law.

hailey baker - sorry this is kinda late since i recently stumbled upon this video- but self defense is only reasonable when the person is in immediate threat in that moment in time. if she didn't have a knife to her throat or gun to her head it wasn't self defense, and especially not if she sent someone to do the dirty work for her. nonetheless, her sick mother is beyond evil. that word holds no power to all the actions she's done to the people around her.

Her dad and stepmom have been so supportive. Whenever they talk about this, there’s a air of regret. Like, DeeDee had them all fooled and they regret not knowing the truth in time to get Gypsy out of that situation that was slowly killing her. In the HBO documentary, Kristi is obviously disgusted by the fact that a mother would actually do this. Kristi said in one part “who does this to their child ?” She’s the mom Gypsy deserved

This story always blew my mind & left me speechless the first time I heard it. 1.) The fact that she’s my age blows my mind, I’m 30. So I just can’t even imagine. 2.) Only ONE doctor spoke up. HOW?!? These doctors should be charged.. They all just took her word? No tests? I mean I know there is crooked doctors. But- this is to a really high extreme. Insane. 3.) Gypsy is actually happier in jail - speaks volumes. 4.)Deedees family always thought she was poisoning them. They got better once she left. Everything got better when she did. 5.) I really don’t believe that the bf should have gotten life. He did kill someone. So yes time and accountability should be held. But not life- he had his own disabilities. Therapy & a mental hospital or maybe sometime in prison, but not life. 6.)Even gypsy should be somewhere getting help- not prison. I mean look how many people actually murdered out of selfish reasons. Gypsy had to kill or be killed, in my opinion. Not saying it’s right- I just feel bad for her. She needs therapy as well. 7.) Nobody come for me- I’m not saying to kill anyone & that it’s ok. I don’t believe killing anyone is right. This case is just mind blowing and has many points to it. I feel bad for Gypsy. Considering so many of dee dees family members have said she was evil & she clearly was- she deserved prison! 8.) she robbed her from a father relationship also, I hope she reconnects and this has nothing to do with anything but he’s cute lol. Okay I’m done with my novel.

A delete do believe want you've taken someone's life that you should be punished but she was punished enough and she could have went to a halfway house she could have got a lot of mental health and education so she could change her life around to help others that are Going through this to teach them that they can speak out that they have a voice.

How did Nick (Gypsy’s boyfriend) end up getting sentenced to life in prison?! 😱🙊 Gypsy should have been given therapy instead of ten years in prison and Nick should definitely have not gotten such a harsh sentence due to his autism. Justice wasn’t served in this case. smh.

As an autistic person, I’m on the fence about Nick serving life. This is technically a 1st degree premeditated murder, but the circumstances are crazy and you can definitely feel sympathy for Gypsy. I 100% agree Gypsy shouldn’t’ve served, but I feel that Nick should still have to serve but have the possibility of parole. Autism should not be considered an excuse for situations such as murder.

@@LuciferReincarnate I agree. But the ability to be manipulated into committing a criminal act is a different story.
@sngray11
@sngray11 3 жыл бұрын
@@LuciferReincarnate I do agree with you. Those lower on the autism spectrum can distinguish right from wrong, but those with more severe autism struggle to perform basic tasks and are unable to understand abstract concepts such as what behaviors are socially acceptable. I am not sure where Nick falls on the autistic spectrum. But the point I was trying to make in my initial comment is that instead of giving Nick a life sentence, the justice system should do more to help reform inmates with mental health issues rather than simply condemning them to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Especially for offenders committing crimes prior to when the rational portion of their brain has fully developed.
@sngray11
@sngray11 3 жыл бұрын
@@LuciferReincarnate You’re welcome. I currently live in the States but I have lived in Europe and Southeast Asia as well. Hopefully in the future more will be done universally to assist those with untreated (or under treated) mental illness as well as addiction (in all its guises). It is more cost effective and betters society as a whole... instead of merely putting everyone that commits a crime in jail or prison. Of course there are some people that are incapable of reformation and incarceration is the only solution for that subset of the population. Thank you for your comments and for allowing me to clarify my initial statement. I hope that you have a wonderful weekend. Take care.

How putrid is the U.S. Judicial System that an abussed girl like Gypsy gets 10 years of jail after liberating herself from her abusive mother, but a monster like Casey Anthony didn't receive any punishment at all for what she did (despite the obvious evidence) and is free of any responsibility? It's just frustrating
