The Salt Lake Stadium of Culcutta once had 120,000 seats but due to it's renovation in 2011 it's capacity reduced to 85,000 and now it's capacity is 87,000 :(

Thanks for putting the MCG on the list. It's also one of the oldest of the large stadiums. It hosted US soldiers during WW2 who couldn't believe the size of the ground, and there's a picture in the MGC members of the packed stadium in 1908.

Azteca was originally 120,000 but renovations have reduced capacity with added VIP sections. Not a lot of football stadiums can brag about hosting 2 World Cup finals with 2 of the greatest lifting the trophy (Pelé 1970) (Maradona 1986) . A true cathedral of world football.....

The largest stadium was the Strahov Stadium in Prague, Czech Republic. Where there were 250,000 places. Unfortunately, this stadium is no longer used. The grandstands are dilapidated, and its area is used as a training center for FC Sparta Prague.

The last major renovation in Maracanã was completed in 2013, costing the public coffers more than R $ 1 billion and reduced its maximum capacity to 78 thousand fans. The audience record is 199 thousand spectators, registered in the 1950 World Cup final. Today, the stadium does not even appear among the 20 in the world in terms of audience capacity.

@@cyancyclone5642 that locality or area in Kolkata, India where the stadium is located is known as Salt Lake, hence the stadium was named that. The actual name of it is Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) and before shortening of bucket seats to 85000, it used to hold more than 100000 spectators on a regular basis in local derby matches (the Kolkata derby). N.B. the stadium hosted the farewell football match of German Legend Oliver Kahn, and also the FIFA U-17 World cup in 2017. 😉

Bangga ada 2 stadium Malaysia termasuk. Walaupun bukit Jalil canggih, tapi stadium Shah Alam lagi selesa bgi aku. Tak terlalu sempit tmpt duduk. Tp Stadium Shah Alam dah tk managed properly. Banyak rosak skrg.

Translating capacity into seats isn't exactly correct because some stadium such as signal iduna park. Have large portion of its capacity through its standing tribune

Croke Park only has three roofed stands, one end is an open standing terrace, and its in Dublin, Ireland. Still a good video though.

The largest stadium type sports venue which is not listed here is the Bristol Motor speedway in Bristol, TN. 162,000 seats. Technically the Indianapolis motor speedway has the largest capacity of any sporting venue at 257,000 people but it’s spread out over a 4 mile track and isn’t really an oval stadium. But Bristol is multiple deck oval stadium with a half mile oval track in the middle. I’m also surprised they don’t have Michigan stadium on this list it’s bigger than the rose bowl at 107,000.
