I'm not even surprised by a fanfic being the longest work of fiction ever written, I routinely see fanfic authors putting out 250,00+ word works.

Damn that fanfic is The Wheel of Time long. That's freaking impressive. The Wheel of Time is so good and so long. I worked as an analyst for a small wastewater testing company and it took me over two months to listen to The Wheel of Time working 40+ hours a week. Job was crazy I would work 15-18hr days sometimes because the other analysts were lazy bastards and I just kept getting more and more stuff piled on me. I had to work a three 12+hr days culminating in a 24hr day so that I could take a two week vacation meanwhile the other two guys that worked on my side got mad at me because I didn't help bring the 3 trash cans to the road once a week. I'm putting in 15-18hr days at least once a week because of my workload, which they never once offered to help, and then they got pissed at me because I didn't help bring out the trash cans to the road. Two guys three wheeled trash cans doesn't seem like a big deal but apparently it was to these lazy bastards. I did take the trash from the interior trash cans to the outer one, often cleaning theirs without being asked, but guess that wasn't good enough. These jerks workloads were so light they could go on vacation without having to work any overtime at all just pick the pace up a little and not spend hours surfing the internet or standing around BS'ing. Eventually I got tired of the crap and quit.

On my Navy ship in the early 1980s, I once stayed awake and working for 54 hours straight. One does NOT tell the Captain one is going to sleep with a critical piece of equipment still broken! I finally got it fixed, and I looked and felt like the walking dead. My Seniorchief finally ordered me to "get horizontal", in other words get some sleep! I cannot believe anyone can go 90+ hours awake. Ain't gonna happen. 😒

The biggest waste of time is subjective and can vary depending on individual preferences and priorities. However, some common examples include: 1. Mindlessly scrolling through social media for hours without any meaningful engagement or purpose. 2. Procrastinating on important tasks or responsibilities instead of taking action. 3. Engaging in activities that provide little or no personal or professional growth, such as excessive gaming or binge-watching TV shows. 4. Getting caught up in gossip or drama that doesn't contribute positively to your life or relationships. 5. Holding onto grudges or dwelling on past mistakes instead of focusing on the present and moving forward. Ultimately, what constitutes a waste of time depends on your values, goals, and how you choose to spend your time. It's important to find a balance between leisure activities and productive pursuits that contribute to your overall well-being and fulfillment.

Actually, talking about wasted time, my teacher told me to write a fictional story, a fantasy fiction one to be exact, and I did. I poured my heart and soul into my story, I even put a whole story line, with a very meaningful plot, and I actually wanted to use this story to help people and I wanted to sell the book, and actually make progress out of it. UNTIL the teacher force-stopped the progress of my book, with drawings and all. Then, when it was time for it to be graded, I was doomed. We did have a show and tell of our stories, but people were only allowed to look at one page of the book. And when the teacher graded it, she acted like it was never there, and even though she promised to let us finish it, she didn't give us time to, proving that what she said was a whole lie. So, no one acknowledged my hard-work. It was a waste of time, but I still plan on selling the story once I finish it.

Don't think of it as a waste of time, an endevour like that means so much more than being limited to just one classroom anyways. See it rather the starting point to a project you want to publish out to the world. No one can stop you from writing. The grade isn't the important part but rather doing it for you in the end. Good luck in the future with it! :^>

(18:04) The worst part for the guy who set out to type the names of the numbers from one to one million is that the task would have seemed like a monumental and significant task when begun in 1984...however, by the time he finished in 1998, a moderately clever child could easily write the small amount of code that would generate the list of numbers in seconds.

The one about shinies needs to be updated because your numbers assume max odds. I’m the older games (gen 2) there’s a method to make 1/64 opposite gender hatches shiny, moving up to gen 4 you can get a 21.34% chance on all wild encounters using the cute charm glitch, and in newer games you can get odds as low as 1/100, 1/152. Also keeping in mind that a lot of players use bots to auto farm shinies for them (you can literally just leave the system plugged in and catch a few shinies every day with no effort) Not saying what the players did isn’t amazing (only caught 10 shinies in my Pokémon play through a myself), I’m just saying it’s not really that big of a waste and especially on the newer consoles I would assume they did some trading/botting

Yeah, and if you catch them all, then you get the Shiny Charm, which increases chances, and Action Replay/hacks were a big deal as well so you could easily use cheat codes to get every shiny. I definitely used AR back in the DS days, hahaha. I stopped using it though. And I think there's another method with breeding, by using a Pokemon with another language and a Ditto, or 2 Pokemon of different languages (so like one English name and one German, for example). I did this to get my shiny Duskull, but I think I had the Charm as well. xD This was all the way in UltraSun, and that was THE ONLY TIME I got the Charm by myself (aka, no cheats or anything, just trading with myself and others via GTS).

As a person who struggles with limited mobility I have played runescape off and on for 17 years and achieved the max cape at least 4 times on RS3 now. However nowdays that is not as insane as it seems especially when compared to the insanity of the master quest cape, completionest cape and Trimmed completionest cape. Yes doing these things does require a lot of time but consider that it is a game where you can talk and play with other people and i have several friends from there who ive been friends with through multiple year long breaks on both sides. The game was where we met but the friendship has lasted for longer than our interest in the game.

I can't believe the Revel made it on this list, a monument of wasted resources at its finest. As a carpenter there, most of my years on that job felt like a huge waste of my time. We completely finished one of the restaurants, only to demo and rebuilt it, because the chef didn't like where a trashcan was sitting. I really wish that was an exaggeration. We built the same set of walls 6 times due to problems occurring after their construction. 1st and 2nd water damage from the weather, 3rd and 4th fires, 5th crane collapse, and 6th finally nothing bad happened. In the strip club we installed floor to ceiling wainscoting and the painters painted murals on them. Because everyone looks at beautiful decorated walls in a dimly lit room with strippers.

I'll tell ya worst waste of time. Depression!! I should of counted the endless hours I was stuck just laying there in bed being paralyzed not even interested in watching my favorite KZfaq channel "Be Amazed" there were times I did manage to get up and go lay on the couch, but still did nothing but try to sleep it away. The 2nd suckiest part of depression is you never know when it will hit you and never knowing when it will go away. So I say godspeed to any and all others that have or is going through it at the moment. Of course if you're going through it right now then you'll most likely not be in KZfaq comments wasting your life reading other people's posts. Just remember, there are better times ahead and don't take for granted and appreciate the hell out of your non- depression moments of your life!! ❤

After much research about Simeon the Stylites, his habit was not a waste of time and did not end up in vain. His preaching conveyed temperance and compassion, and was marked with common sense and freedom from fanaticism. And especially taught against profanity and usury. Even the monks told him to stay where he was. One of the miracle I learned was that once when Simeon was ill, Theodosius sent three bishops to beg him to come down and allow himself to be attended by physicians. But Simeon preferred to leave his cure in the hands of God, and before long he recovered. And when his mother died, he asked that his mother's coffin be brought to him. And bid farewell. Not even his own mother could visit him and she embraces the monastic life style and knowing the statement which follows, "If we are worthy, we shall see one another in the life to come." Same principle stated in the bible for sure.

Less than 100 hours binge watching... . That's easy. But if said binge watch doesn't allow toilet break and preparing/eating meal while watching, then that's just not good. . I remember starting my anime watching with a two week anime binge just a month after graduating highschool. Friends finally convinced me to watch anime when I missed them talking about them so much.

about the max cape: That cape is not even the hardest one to get nowadays. There is also something thats called the completionist cape. For that one you need to have not only gotten all skills ln lvl 99 but several skills at lvl 120. And you need to have mastered every single minigame, finished every quest in the game. Found all the lore and several other really obnoxious timewasting requirements. If you think mastering mini games or finding all lore is easy you are oh so wrong. For the lore thing: you have a skill called dungeoneering that is a roquelike thing. You need to find every lorebook in there but its completly random wich one you get and there are over 100 different ones. If you are unlucky just that part can already take over 1000 hours. For the minigame you need to have cleared every minigame a certain amount off time. Some spam in the the thousands off times you need to clear them. And there are over 20 different ones. This also takes 10s off thousands hours to do. And this is all on top off the already ridiculous max cape requirements since you also do need to have the max cape to even be able to buy the completionist cape.

My biggest waste of time is writing a story about my own Skyrim character. It began when I spent over a thousand hours (about a month and 11 days) playing the game normally and beating it many times. Then I decided to learn how to mod the game. Knowing about as much about computers as a chimpanzee, I spent a total of 12 hours learning to mod the game. Over time, I spent another 7 months creating a load order for my mods. That was when I decided to actually write a story about her (my character’s) life, from start to finish, which took another 6 months. In total, I spent over a whole year and 2 months playing Skyrim (the Special Edition, to be precise), creating a character, learning to mod Skyrim, and then writing a story that no one but me will ever see. I’m still proud of it regardless.

Well... I can pretty much say that almost my entire 20s was a complete waste of time and life due to a pain pill and Adderall addiction. I definitely didn't accomplish anything new that was worthwhile during that time period. Plus a lot of the great things that I had accomplished prior to that time period I managed to plow into the ground and destroy. So I can pretty confidently say that I was at one time an expert and professional at wasting time and life! However... the best part is that in a few days on 3/21/2022 it will mark 6 years of freedom from that wasted decade of my time and life!!! During those 6 years I haven't wasted any time, have accomplished all kinds of great things, and am well on my way to restoring myself to the former glory that I had before that wasted decade. In some ways during the past 6 years i have already surpassed many of the things and accomplishments that I had prior to that wasted decade. Anyways I just figured I would tell a little about the time period when I definitely learned a huge lesson about wasting time and life!
