HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

Those figurines are Ratfink characters, drawn by Ed “Big Daddy” Roth back in the 60’s and 70’s. You would remember them driving really rad hot rods with big gear shifts hanging out of the top….classic artworks ….. You are a lucky man 😊👍
@DDS029
@DDS029 5 ай бұрын
The ones you were thinking of were based off of a line Ed did for MPC Model Cars. These were more like the ones that were were in CarTOONS Magazine. MAD Magazine for the hot rod culture. The "Rat Fink" rat, and others were from some cartoons Ed used to draw. The Rat became his logo and was the most famous of them. MPC was based in the area i live in. The International Show Car Assn. (ISCA , Bob Laravee head honcho, sign painter, stock car driver, entrepreneur.) was not too far away. Both suburbs of Detroit. I can't remember who built the original smaller scale show cars (there scale was that the rear wheels were 15" x 10 or 12". Everything else was based off off that. I do know when they needed to be repainted, that was done a quarter-mile down the road from me. KusTOM's Unlimited was owned by Tom Holden, who built a Riddler Award winning (a very very sought after award, an ISCA award) car owned that shop.The car Tom built and was most famous for was a full custom '59 (?) Chevy Impala that had a Batmobile look to it. It had full jet air plane canopies instead of split ones. I WENT TOO CRAZY ON AN EXPLAINATION AGAIN . . . didn't I . . . ?? 🤔😮‍💨😡🤬 I hate when I DO THAT!!!!!

In later life, Big Daddy moved to Utah, and joined the Mormon church. Not a move I'd expect. Mormons, for the most part, are quite conservative. Not what you'd find in a hotrod cartoonist. (If I wasn't raised as a Mormon, I wouldn't know. Kinda like Gladys Knight joining the Church.) steve

The shade sail would be a awesome idea and asethecly a great place for it and I like the... what I personally call "modern industrial" look of your property. It is a good use of hard and soft industrial products with the financial investment with a long term product. Especially since you put in the sweat equity and built it yourself. The work you put in the life stile you live the focus and commitment to your self and your community online and I'm confident enough to say without knowing your personal life is admirable. I'm hoping to have the strength and commitment that you have to your self, for what I may have for the rest of my years. Your pups are great I appreciate the breaks in the vids because it also shows a aspect of love and compassion and once again commitment to your self and those around you. I also like your aspect of an amenity the man behind the mask essentially!!! Much respect and admiration 👍 sorry I can't sign my name as I would a hand written letter to you in respect, let alone online security problems. Satisfying total metal weight - 1234 Kgs, not sure if that was planned or just coincidental. But love your videos man, shoutout from Costa Rica!

Good melt Big D! It's funny to see how stuff "quenches" on different materials! Those fan sent things were pretty darn good too! Shows just how popular your channel has become! Have a good one brother.

@@bigstackD not bad mate. Just chilling mostly. Caught up with a guy last night that I grew up with and haven’t seen for 40 years! Going to head up to see Kurtis on Tuesday. Hope you are doing ok over there with the hot weather!

One way of beating the ball drop game: As soon as your target hole lines up with the top left corner of the cabinet, press the drop button. Go for the 75 ticket and 50 ticket holes as they are easier for the ball to fall thru. However I had several 100 point fall thru without touching sides!

You have such nice friends D. Bringing you such juicy copper wires. I love when copper bars freeze with the “bunched silk” look. Try hitting a wire wheeled bar with your propane torch…the colours it brings out in the copper is spectacular. Ive heard it called “pearlizing” the bar. Great video as always…enjoyed the quenching quite a bit!

🇸🇯🇸🇯Fun video today. Different with all the food. That was cool. I realy like that little zinc ingot. Clean and simple with that little scull. Stlill think you should make one of those ice-pug forms into copper..

Crazy ideas for quenching! Imagine that was fun to plan at the grocery store. I can’t imagine how it smelled when you had all six of those next to each other. Olmec coins! Gotta love the Nickelodeon nostalgia. Looking forward to seeing more. There’s a challenge in that: you should try to recreate the Shrine of the Silver Monkey statue! Speaking of copper, are there any plans to clean up the bars from the 1k giant motor melt, or are those being saved for future kiln projects? Any plans to clean up/remelt some of the floor stack? All that metal is badly in need of a wirebrushing to bring it to its full glory. 😊

Hey Big D, I am late to the game, but I have been binge watching the last few years, with plans to delve deeper. I prefer Promite and cheese, but definitely not that well toasted. Keep up the entertaining videos and I will be pleased to return every week.
