Thanks for this video. As living with a microbiologist/ my wife I can say you’re on money. Although You didn’t go far enough to emphasize the dangers of mold or other respiratory issues. For many people including me your economic reasoning is enough to take your advice and be thankful for it. But there are many health benefits of controlling the humidity in confined space. We live in Arizona with extreme heat and low humidity. In 35 years we’ve never seen mold but 115 degrees and 11% humidity can also do damage, to cabinets, walls, fabric and especially sealants. We actually place buckets of water inside the RV to try and keep some humidity in the coach. But we have experienced high humidity situations when visiting family in the Midwest or South for a week or more. These products could help in those situations. Thank you

I was on a project building a new high school in Palm Springs ca. The GC turned off the ac on friday in a gym with a freshly installed basketball floor. Monday morning, they had to scrap the floor. In some places, it lifted 18 inches. It was 115 to 120 over the weekend and almost no humidity.

We have been saying this for years and tell everyone to get a real dehumidifier not a big box store one because they are much more efficient. We notice a huge difference. We plumb it into a drain pipe and run it all the time set at 40%. People will say that it puts off heat but we keep our AC closer to 74 because it is so dry inside the camper.

Great point on humidity. I watched your previous video and bought a small dehumidifier and tried to run it on solar. Problem, the watt usage was a lot higher than what the company claimed it was. I have a watt meter that I use to test products. I returned it and bought a different one and it uses what they claim. I will probably turn my AC on as well and set it to 85 to help control it. Perfect video for this time of the year.

Appreciate coverage of the topic. Suggest everyone start with sealing off RV inside air from outside ambient air. If you notice your humidity levels are trending with outside levels, you have leaks that are feeding into the RV. I had so many gaps and holes from my brand new RV it took me a while to seal it off. Once I did, I have 55% humidity in my RV with over 90% humidity outside without a dehumidifier or a/c running.

Great info. I have the EVD-1200 which is the next model up from the dehumidifier that you have. I store my RV in a storage yard with no electric, BUT I do have a 100Ahr battery and a 190 watt solar panel installed. My dehumidifier uses about 23 watts. I bought a small 12v inverter (300 watt max) and will use that to power the dehumidifier. My solar and battery should be more than enough to keep things running indefinitely. I wonder why the Eva-Dry folks do not offer a 12V plug for these...? YOU have inspired me - thanks !

Gee, Heat and Humidity in Mid-June down near Corpus Crispy, I am shocked 😅. There is a reason we wait until fall to come visit family near Waco. Mid- Atlantic region does get hot and humid, but not nearly as long as Texas. We don't have power where we store our trailer, so we use a Damp-rid bucket. That, with 3 to 4 trips though the summer, keeps the issue under control for us.

Specs from the product page say the EDV-1100 uses a 9V DC power adapter, consumes 22.5W - it's easy to find or make a 9v DC adapter that could run without the losses of DC > AC > DC inverting. I'd be curious if it's possible to just leave the water holder out and stick it over the sink drain so you don't have to empty the reservoir.

If you are not "using" the rv, use a dehumidifier and set it up to drain not to empty. My only concern is does it pull humidity from the exterior through the walls? Either way I use it to control interior moisture levels. Heat is not the problem no reason to be running the ac uf not being used. Best if you have a carport like roof over it.

Curious question: What do you prefer the humidity to be in your RV? We have a big electric dehumidifier we run constantly in the main part. Depending on where we are at, we have emptied it up to 3-4 times a day. We have the hanging closet damp rid bags in the closet and bathroom as well. We got a small electric dehumidifier like the one you show also in our bedroom. I don't think it is possible to have to much dehumidifiers out. What would be your opinion on that? I've been told to keep the humidity between 15 and 30%. Your thought??? Thanks

Very educational video. I have a comment as well as a couple of questions if you don’t mind as I’ve never RV’s before. Comment: You have a nice shop, I’m jealous as I wish that I had one. When you built your shop, I figured that you would’ve built it large enough to house your RV’s, or at least store your RV’s under a car port. Why didn’t you? I know that it would’ve cost more, but i would’ve thought what you paid for the new truck would’ve paid for the larger building. Question 1) You said if you store your RV in a storage facility it will sweat and start to die. If the building was air conditioned, would you still have to put the dehumidifier in it? #2) If you were to have an RV stored under a car port, would you still have take the same care with the dehumidifiers even if you say had the windows open to let the breeze go through and let the fresh air in? Looking forward to your reply thank you. I enjoy your channels.

Drill a couple little holes in the bottom of your de-humid basin and keep the unit in the sink. No need to dump it every week. Anyway the humidity in Houston was interesting during the business trips I had there. Weirdest part was condensation and rain on the *inside* of your car in the morning. Drank a lot of quart-bottles of beer that week. But it was not nearly as bad as the summer humidity off the east coast of Saudi.

Put a 5 gallon bucket of water inside to keep it from drying out the wood and fabric. Be sure to set it on something because it will discolor the flooring or even the tub if you set it directly on the surface. Some dealerships in Phoenix do this on the lot.
