100% agree! We thought very seriously about purchasing an RV last year (Class C) but after evaluating the upfront investment, ongoing maintenance and ownership costs, in combination with the nightmare that COVID was to the quality and after-market service for the RV industry, we opted to use those funds for hotels over the next decade. We travelled over 32,000km last summer in our comfortable, reliable F150 with our dog and woke up every morning to a “free” continental breakfast and a hot shower. We also came to realize that some RV’s, specifically Class C and bigger limit where you can go, for example, we drove the Needles Highway last summer which features over 14 miles of switchbacks, pigtails and tight curves, climbing over 2000 feet in elevation; a drive that would have been impossible on our Class C. Yes, we won’t have an “asset” at the end and all that cash will have been spent, but the emotional cost of RV ownership, especially in the post-COVID era is well worth the investment and in our opinion, the right choice for us.

I bought mine new in July 2021 on the promise of great resell value and excellent workmanship. Neither is true, not even close. I sold mine in July 2023 at a little over half of the purchase price and that is with I several upgrades,230ah lithium battery, 2009w inverter, monitor for remote work, huge rise faucet and weboost. During the 2 years, floor has to be replaced due to faulty glue. Shower pan leaks has to be fixed. Bathroom wall start to separate from the body. We didn't used it as much as we would liked. One thing I think would be helpful for a wet bath is to have a teak wood foot insert that could be taken out when you shower so that when the shower is done, you don't need to dry it all out in order to use the restroom without getting your feet wet. Just put the insert back into the floor and you have a dry place to put your feet when using the toilet.

In the early 1960’s, we had an Airstream that was almost exactly like that….yup, they brought back the old model with an upgrade…oh, but there was once a propane tank and hand lit gas heater when ya first enter the door on the right in that lower cabinet area….miss it so much…..it was great….we would pull off the road and mom would cook the mid day lunch while the kids and dad would play in the fields and explore…..🥰 great memories…..

Airstreams look great! Just remember they have only made a few changes in decades, and they use the cheapest parts, meaning refrigerators, wench, etc. Those trailer wheels have to be repacked every 3000 miles. NOT greased like truck trailing wheels where you regularly need to hook up a grease gun to each wheels zerks. You have to remove the wheel, disassemble and grease the bearings, and remount them.

Nice tiny trailer and I bet many people will be happy to go for it. But imho these overhead compartment doors call for good problem solving capabilities as things will surely fly around and block them. This might not be only the case during traveling but even when the trailer is parked - I guess everybody with a tiny cabinet or even a simple bread box with this or similar type of opening mechanism can sing an opera about such issues ...

We've had several Airstreams and we love our Flying Cloud Bunk. But Airstream is very slow to innovate in some interesting areas. For example, awning lights. Sure, they have LED strip lighting, but you have to have the awning extended to use it. We also have a Winnebago Travato which has the awning light strip such that you can use it extended or not. Airstream also does not have Bluetooth enabled AC units like the Travato. If I were by myself, I'd definitely consider a Bambi. Not sure if the bed would be big enough for me. I'm only 5'-9", but that bed looks pretty small.

I have been obsessed with Airstreams since Chris in the Morning on NORTHERN EXPOSURE decades ago. I didn't think I could live in this small of a trailer full-time, but I might be able to do this one. Granted, my 2 cats would NOT be thrilled. The price tag is too high for a trailer this small though...sigh. That being said, I'm seeing some tiny homes now costing $190,000!

Form over function? Looks cool, but fridge and micro below waist level? Those over head cabinet sliding doors look cool but suspect will be a pain in the neck. Nice wrap around window looking at…. The back of your tow vehicle.

Hey JD,I hope you're having a great day! I like the Airstream travel trailers. They have one out I think its a classic but I'm not sure that has massive space and storage in it. The Bambi is a.nice small trailer that would be good for a couple or a family with a child. The Airstream will last for years I hope because they are made out of steel or aluminum? I like this setup because being a single person that's all I would need. Thank you JD for showing us this unit. Your number one fan an friend Leonard from North Carolina.

Got it. However, had one and over time it leaked. I paid a lot and sold it for only slightly less than I paid for it so it retained value but their are better campers for a lot less today. I prefer clam shell two piece campers now

I think it would be ideal for of off road camping if it was higher off the ground, stronger axle and springs with bigger tires to pull behind a 4x4.

Airstreams are the definitely the coolest looking trailers on the market. They really lack storage space. However that trailer has okay storage for its size. What will that aluminum skin look like if you get caught in a Texas hail storm?

The thing that jumps out at me right away is why in such a small compact RV would you build a dining room for 4?
