Tiruppur has claimed the title of a ‘Make in India’ knitwear production and export hub even before Prime Minister Narendra Modi popularised the term. It is the big entrepreneurial dream city for small town North Indians. For decades, migrants from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha have flocked here to work as migrant workers of production units owned by Tamils. But now some of them are rising up in the pecking order with their own micro and small textile units.

I only imagine the boost people get talking about their caste and it's not only limited to the North of India which a lot of people imply. There's heavy division in the East, West and the South of India on the basis of caste as if regionalism and language was not enough. Youths should drop this third class idea of caste as it is today. Language is precious, we should admire, respect and learn whereas regionalism and caste is outdated.

Mumbai?? U mean idli dosa restaurant? Cuz I live in Mumbai. 90% of their restaurants are now owned by their last gen or by someone. Their next gen left India and went abroad. Tamilians are 3rd most poor PPL in Mumbai after bangladeshis and biharis. 15% tamilian population lives in slums of Mumbai and seriously they are more in crime also. in tamilnadu they don't speak hindi. Bt in Mumbai they feel proud to speak hindi over marathi and English. Telugu and Tamilians mostly now don't live in Mumbai they actually settle abroad. Kannada PPL actually have some businesses in Mumbai. Tamilians are most hypocrites. Cuz if they hate Hindi why they don't speak gujrati, Bengali, marathi, Punjabi in other states. Same was condition of Maharashtra. The biggest reason for this is selection by employers. Employers always want employees/workers who can work in low wages, but developed people don't agree. So, they hire less developed people. And this cycle goes on. This is same reason why European companies shifted to USA, Canada in previous century then few years later, American companies started moving to Japan, then few years later to Singapore, China, then few years later to Vietnam, Malayasia, Indonesia, south India, soon to north Indka and will then shift to Africa and so on.

I am from Tamil Nadu, This shows that we are welcoming migrants. More than that I am Proud that the Tamil Nadu has created the Business environment which allows any Indian to start their business. Many Tamilians may own businesses in Mumbai, Karnataka. How many would be owning business in UP and Bihar is the Question i am looking for answer. Currently many elected representatives are boasting that their state is very business friendly. I had even doubted this kind of support in Tamil Nadu before this video. Because that is literally the meaning of migrant. A simple google search would show that migrant means 'someone who moves away from their usual residence'. You can move from your usual place to another place and you are, by definition, a migrant. And whether you use it between cities, states or nations, is based on the context of the topic. Here it talks about a person from Bihar setting up their business in Tamil nadu. Hence, the person is a migrant due to change in their state of residence

I'm from this area. Welcome to anyone who can do honest business and prosper. So here's another big reason. Coimbatore district in TN has the among the LOWEST birth replacement ratio in the country. It's 1.x and and basically like Europe. Coimbatore population has the oldest average age in India so you just can't find workers. Tirupur is a major textile belt and needs labor. it's inevitable that some of them become entrepreneurs. Ultimately all Indians should welcome Indians from all over India.. as long as they have some respect for local culture, language etc (irrespective of state, language).

Fix the credit lending system in Bihar and they can do their business in bihar itself. The current Credit-deposit ratio (CD ratio) in bihar is 1:2 which means out of every 2 rupees deposited by people of bihar in banks, banks are giving back only 1 rupee in form of Loan to businesses in bihar. Banks are taking these funds and lend in other parts of the country. The politicians of bihar are so dumb that they'll never question this and force the banks. Right now it's very much hard for small businesses in bihar to get loan from a bank.

Imagine this: Bihar gets 7 rupees from center for the 1 rupee it generates and tamil nadu gets 30 paise on the one rupee it generates. Despite so much money going into the state, the government never bothered to invest in its people and they are forced to work outside of the state while they are still counted as part of the state when it comes to funding. People of Tamil Nadu and other states are losing their revenue twice.

Things like this shows that landlocked populated states are only poorer due to not having direct access to sea. I hope current infrastructure building changes that. Also northern states should use rivers as water highways because ships will always be more efficient than roads and rails.

Where i live we have many small scale industries and you will find many people from north India running small scale industries and you will find that mostly people from bihar do the work for another party for very cheap and bringing the market rates lower and creating a tough competition between the industries and due to this many small scale industries get shut down

1. Biharis work hard but they dont do business, they work like labour. 2. They gangup, employ biharis and takeout locals workers. 3. Biharis are willing to compromise on every term to get work. 4. They first do low cost job work, under cut cost by living in groups in single room in work premises under poor conditions. 5. Biharis have come to work as their state is very poorly managed. They do work in odd hours [ since they come without family it is possible for them. The family is also co-operating for economic compulsions. This cuts out locals who have families to attend to. 6. Biharis work on long Credit terms and accept payments in small installments. This is good for employers/ local business who extend job work, to prefer Biharis. 7. When Biharis start own business, they bring labour from their villages in Bihar and keep them like bonded labour in factory. Paying lower wages, Do not allow labour to go out. Language barrier stops labour from moving out. 8. Biharis are intelligent, but overly clever.

In 2011, we started a steel processing venture in Chennai and that was one hell of an adventure and learning experience. Then also it was very hard to hire local people (for labor jobs) and make them work, a lot of local polictics, corruption, lack of professionalism and above all a lot of hurdles from the government. We gave up after 1 & a half yr. & returned back to Taiwan. I hope situation is better now. Best wishes to all overseas entrepreneurs venturing into India.
