Mike M Well, umm, physics love. They're smaller and weigh much less. A bike is just much less machine to push. A bike weighs hundreds of pounds, a car weighs thousands. So obvi, the initial acceleration will be faster. However, if they were going straight for long enough, the bike would max out at its top speed, which is not faster than the car, hence the car would eventually pass it, because it's more powerful. And I actually have seen some videos where bikes couldn't catch a car. Look for the one with the sport bike, against a panamera in traffic.

It's definitely not the fastest sports bike think about the new R1, Aprilia RSV4 Factory, Kawasaki H2/H2r and ZX10r. The RC8R is just an above average sports bike although it's KTM's fastest bike they don't have very fast bikes due to them being naked and motocross bikes.
