Bikepacking the Rebellion Way - Cycle Touring in Norfolk

After riding the Cantii Way last year, we decided to try another of ‪@CyclingUK‬'s routes and tackle the Rebellion Way, a 232-mile route around Norfolk. We took the shorter route option, cutting directly across from Norwich to Kings Lynn, making our route just shy of 200 miles.
The tour took us along a mix of quiet, mostly flat back roads, byways, cycle paths and bridleways under huge panoramic skies. We passed through some amazing country estates, such as Sandringham and Holkham, lovely villages and seaside hotspots.
For me the highlight was finishing in the Norfolk Broads, the home of my favourite childhood books, Coot Club & Big Six by Arthur Ransome. Camping by the Salhouse Broad that evening, I was able to enjoy a beautiful sunset swim.

Did the Rebellion Way last year and the Wolf Way this year. More off road on the Wolf Way so best to go during August when the paths should be drier.

Yes, we loved that campsite fab evening down by the broad, would definitely like to go back there again. Ewan loves the cycle tours this year we’re going international for a 250mile ride in the Netherlands 😀

Enjoyed your video. Just finished the routeyesterday. Cracking effort by your boy. The part you missed Thetford fotest and the Brekland area is lovely to ride, we wild camped there the first night. Its worth a visit if you havent been that way before

Brilliant video. I love your cheerful demeanor all the way through. Such an uplifting positive character you have. I hope your son enjoyed it? Its difficult to tell when theyre that age.

Absolutely brilliant. Ive been trying to get my 2 lads into cycling and bikepacking. Neither of them want to try it. I rode the pedders way to the coast and back in 2022.. Thinking im going ride the rebellion way this year. Such a nice relaxing route

Lovely video of your ride, this was so relaxing to watch. I really enjoyed seeing wide, open sunny skies! especially with this very wet January weather we're having. This looks like a good choice for a novice touring cyclist. Hope the front panniers kept the water out from that ford crossing. Did you use a paper map to navigate or an app? Did I see your son trying to pop a wheelie? Well done to him for doing 200 miles and staying cheerful.

Thanks, lovely to hear that you enjoyed it and yes nive to be reminded of sunny days in the dark, wet winter! Yes, definitely a good starter tour ride. My front panniers completely failed to keep the water out but fortunately everything of importance was inside dry bags inside that did keep the water out. We use Komoot and my Garmin to navigate. Will pass on your congrats to Ewan 😄

great video as always. Did you use a biking computer for the route or just your smartphone?

I use komoot to plan it and review on computer and then I use Garmin 530+ on my bike for navigation while riding but have the route downloaded on komoot on my phone so I can check on there too.
