The Rebellion Way is a 225 mile, 375km historically inspired gravel adventure loop around Norfolk that I created together with awesome bike charity Cycling UK. Ride with me around the second part of the route from Sandringham to Norwich to get a taste of the stunning scenery, fascinating history and surprising stories that make this a marvellous introduction to multi day riding for anyone.
Massive thanks to Cycling UK for asking me to create this route as part of the EXPERIENCE Cycling initiative and commissioning me to write the guidebook which you can buy here shop.cyclinguk.org/rebellion-...
And for more information and GPS downloads visit here www.cyclinguk.org/rebellion-way
And if you enjoy this video please consider joining Cycling UK so they can create more routes like this, campaign for better access and advocacy for cyclists and get yourself great deals, comprehensive rider insurance and a regular magazine in the process.
Cheers
Guy K

Absolutely loved these two videos. I’m a Norfolk boy, and learnt so much about the history, that I really should know! Planning to give this route a go in summer.

Really enjoyed this pair of videos. You really should do some more bikepacking / touring videos with historical interest along the way. Top stuff! Actually, just got to the end of the video where you say that's exactly what you're planning to do. Excellent!

Great video, I live in Fakenham so this is right on my doorstep 🙂 I don’t cycle I ride a footbike / Kickscooter and have traveled most of this route this summer apart from the south Norfolk part. I will do the whole route next spring

Enjoyed thanks, planning on doing next year now. I was on holiday around there first week of July as you were filming I reckon ? and also stumbled on the Morris dancers on Saturday morning, while in town stocking up on food............ Great area and very much looking forward to this loop, although at a more relaxed pace (sightseeing): It looked like you had 2 big days out! Cheers.

Yes it must have been the same weekend! I planned to do it over three days TBH then lost the first day and early morning start so left Norwich at around 3pm on the Friday. Nearly camped out again on Saturday night but decided to push on as I'd already recce'd that area before. TBH it would have probably been nicer wild camping as I only got as far as a car park in Sleaford before having to have a kip in the van anyway! But yes, three days would really let you appreciate all the interesting bits and the excellent eating/drinking options.

Thank you for what looks like another cracking little bike adventure route Guy. We holiday every year down in Norfolk (mainly the broads) and I'm familiar with a lot of the places featured. Glad you stopped for a pint at my favourite pub, The Fur and Feather at Woodbastwick! We go there by bike from Ludham village using the little ferry boat at Horning. Looks like I'll be going to Norfolk twice next year! All the best Jason( Cappuccino Cycling Club)

It's a great place that isn't it Jason. I tried to get across at the ferry earlier in the year while researching some routes around Wroxham (there are three of them on the Cycling UK website if you're interested) but it wasn't running.

On the windmills I believe there were more windmills per square ft in Norfolk than the whole of the NL. Though don’t quote me as it’s one of those very specific stats. Also Holkham hall the inside - the marble hall is stunning and used in several films. There’s also a gravel event by pedal revolution at Holkham - with lots of gravel roads within the estate and in the wider area.

Thanks for this guide Guy. Inspiration for the spring/summer next year. I ride a recumbent trike; I'm happy with gravel tracks but are there points that I'd need to find a route around because of width or lifting over gates/stiles? Thanks
@GuyKesTV
@GuyKesTV Жыл бұрын
Sorry Glen thought I'd replied to this. From memory there are only a handful of points where there might be an issue. The footbridge options at the fords near Diss and again near Holt are narrow. The gate at the south entrance of Holkham Hall is narrow too but there is an intercom for vehicle access via the main gate I think. The route out of Sheringham has quite a tight gate and the push up to the top of the common might be a fight. They're all pretty easy to divert around without spoiling the ride though. Hope that helps.

love to go cycling but don't think I could wear that brightly colored Lyca.
@GuyKesTV
@GuyKesTV Жыл бұрын
Absolutely no need to wear lycra of any colour! Lots of normal looking bike clothes in all styles now. All you perhaps need are some padded undershorts to add comfort if you're riding a long way. You can wear whatever you want over the top of them though. Just be you 👍

Superb film- informative, interesting, inspiring and very professional. Perhaps you could split your channel into these videos separate from the reviews of new stuff. I understand why you do them but I think for many of us one of the joys of cycling is that you can do without buying new "stuff" and "tech" all the time. It's also much better for the environment to just repair older albeit high quality bikes. Many thanks for motivating me to do that ride next year.
@GuyKesTV
@GuyKesTV Жыл бұрын
Hi Oliver, thanks for the kind words but I think you might be pushing it with 'very professional' 🤣I totally understand where you're coming from with separating these routes off from the tech stuff and I'm already working on 'pedalling past' as a separate historic routes channel. I've shot some trial edits already but still working out the best way to do bits like mapping etc. If you keep an eye on @pedallingpast instagram that'll keep you up to date but I'll put a link to the first draft below if you'd be so kind as to give some feedback. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pbmRmd2ZyuDIhIE.html

How far is this section. I think I'd like to ride from kings Lynn through to Norwich. Full route maybe a little too long for me. Norfolk is really pretty. Lots of WOW moments.
@GuyKesTV
@GuyKesTV Жыл бұрын
Sorry GD, I don't know exactly but I reckon around 200km/125 miles. It's definitely the section I'd do though (unless you particularly like forests). Also you can easily cut it down by short cutting the loops up to Hunstanton and/or Sheringham or by heading anti clockwise round the cycle path at Aylsham straight into Norwich rather than doing the extra bit round Wroxham and Ranworth. Hope that helps.
