Highly underrated as an adventure destination, the Northwoods region is home miles upon miles of dirt roads and tracks that knit together lakes, rivers, thick forests, and small towns. It holds a special place in Neil's heart, and last month, Neil and two friends set off to ride the Wisconsin Waterfalls Loop, a 380-mile route in northern Wisconsin. In our latest video, Neil shares trip highlights and a day-by-day itinerary of their ride...

Hey Neil, we were just wrapping up our 7 day tour when we saw you riding out of Hurley. Figures that in this epic backwoods adventure we would pass each other on one of the few stretches of urban highway. Would have loved to had opportunity to stop and chat a bit. We started in Ironwood and road counter clockwise. That was quite the storm on Thursday evening. It only lasted a bit over an hour at the Stockbridge Farm Campground but it packed a wallop in that time - hail included. We missed out on Delta Diner as they were still in their early season hours - a common theme we discovered. No matter what day it was, that was the day the establishment wasn't open. Even the Pizza in Cable was closed but "The Portage" was a nice substitute. We did happen across the Benoit Cheese Shop - a true Oasis in what felt like the middle of nowhere. We spent a night at R.O.A.M campground south of Cable in the heart of CAMBRA - what a wonderful setup the owner has created there. Heading east out of there we opted for some of the gravel FS roads instead of the singletrack - it was spectacular as I imagine the trails were. We too were disappointed Willy's Still was closed as we swatted bugs and ate our pbj on the porch. You guys will have to get back there to enjoy the Bayfield Peninsula area that you missed. It is a bit different flavor of riding than the some of the other parts. I echo your sentiments - this is one ride to not rush as there are so much you might miss if you do. I live in the UP in Houghton MI and I was a bit afraid this route would feel too much like my own backyard. While some of it felt very familiar, it was unique in its own way and it is so much about your mates that you share the adventure with. Looks like I have to get back down there so I can hit the Delta Diner when its open. Regarding the comment about leaving a vehicle for the week: I often will start/stop a ride staying at mom and pop motel. Typically, these establishments are rather inexpensive and will allow you to leave your vehicle in their lot for the week.

I had this route on my to-do list this summer, but decided against it when I started getting nervous about finding somewhere to park for a week and wondering if someone was going to steal my cat off the car. Maybe I'm just being over-paranoid. Also - I really like this format. Thanks.

It went together easily in less than an hour. kzfaq.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

The audio levels are messed up, the voice-over is too quiet. So if the volume is adjusted for the voice, then viewers get hit with a piece of music that is too loud every time the narrator stops talking. And if adjusted for the music - can't hear the voice. Thus watching it requires constant playing with the volume "knob", which is quite annoying. :) Good stuff otherwise. Ticks are scary.
