This is my entire Great Divide experience from summer 2020. I started the ride on the Canada/Montana border on July 15th and rode for 26 days to southern Colorado. This long edit is a bit different than my previously released series. I took out all the music and left in just natural sounds. I love the soothing soundtrack of tires crunching on gravel.

I’m a cyclist of 34 yrs and try to get out 5 x a week. Yes even in the winter. As I age it gets harder and harder. I had my crazy days in the saddle. This video intrigued me and I’m quitting my job, retiring, and gonna do one last push. Thanks for the video.

Don't make it your last! I'm sure you can find a way to make your work revolve around cycling rather than the other way around. Things have a way of working out when you are open to them. And you said you are retiring, even better. Strip your life down to only the essentials and I'm sure you will suddenly find greater freedom to ride!

Sorry for your loss...truly. Do it....go for it. I am 76, lost my wife three years ago and have been sitting on my duff ever since. Watching these biking videos has inspired me. I just took delivery of my e-MTB and rode it last Sunday in our local National Forest, mostly hills and was thrilled to find that I can do it. I am now awaiting some panniers and a rack rag bag so I can go bikepacking. The nice thing about the e-bike is it lets you tweak the settings where you put in enough effort to get good exercise and build up to longer distances. I can't tell you how happy I am that I made this decision. I encourage you to get out there in the wind.

I might be a little late to the party but I have say that you have constructed a beautiful and intimate road trip documentary that is not only warm and full of positive interaction but also technically very impressive. I appreciate the meticulous care you have taken in your editing, the pace is pitch perfect. Your GoPro and drone camera work is excellent and really captures the enormity of your undertaking. Your commentary adds genuine depth and soundtrack of tyre on grit and tastefully foregoing the dreadful generic overly loud beat heavy soundtrack is just super welcome. We get a sense of who you are without unnecessary personal detail, it was compelling from start to finish without ever succumbing to cliche.

I broke my left leg in 3 places last year, 3 breaks all on my tibia, just under my knee. I'm 45 and breaking my leg and not being able to walk (I was in a wheelchair for about 8 weeks post surgery, 3 plates holding the bone together) and got a bike a few weeks ago. I've also loved bike riding and after relying on people for what seemed like forever as I couldn't walk very far, I feel like I'm slowly getting some independence back. I'm still super out of shape, but I'm hoping the bike will help as walking is painful for me, but bike riding isn't. I'm guessing it's due to impact on the bone whilst walking. I doubt my weight is helping either. I don't know how to drive, so bike riding is the next best thing. When I can finally go back to work I'll upgrade to a ebike for longer journeys. I just love bike riding. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I came across this KZfaq video last night and I want to thank you for it from the bottom of my heart. One of my closest friends, who also happened to be my first cousin, passed away Friday. I found solitude and peace in your video. I found calm. My buddy Gary died from COVID on Friday. He was 41. He never even made it to a ventilator. While he didn’t ride bikes much (though he did a little at one point in his early adventures with his wife and the kids), my only wish is I had come across this a week ago while he was in the hospital, alone, battling this terrible virus. I think he would have been able to find some peace in the beauty of the outdoors which you so elegantly capture in this video. He loved the outdoors. Best to you. And thank you. My wife and I watched it in full last night.

yeah people over here have a very stereotypical view of Americans too (Denmark, Europe) but what I experienced in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansa, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington states were a LOT of warm and friendly people, some a bit too "political correct" that needs to losen up a little and live life... but generally welcoming people, taking me into their homes, sharing what they had and so on. You actually see that in most countries... ESPECIALLY when you get out of the big cities...

I fell asleep and my algorithm had this playing on youtube and after watching most of it I have to say thank you for bringing back old memories. It was the summer of grade 11 and me and my friend Rocky rode our bikes from Vancouver to Jasper down to Banff across to Calgary down to Baab Montana, across Glacier National Park up Idaho and then finished with the hardest part of the ride across hwy 3 in BC back to Vancouver. It was 23 days w 2 rest days I rode a cannondale and Rocky had a rocky mtn and we had front and rear panniers a tent and our bikes both weighed over 100lbs. It was incredible the journey and we went through some stunning country and hit all types of weather even snow and met the kindest most generous people, I think he took 400 bucks and I had 700 and we both came back w money…. The camping was done on the side of the hwy mostly and the dinner was usually rice and beans my treat was always apple pie a la mode. If I remember correctly our biggest day was 3 mtn passes, needless to say we came back to grade 12 and walked on whatever team we wanted to join, it was the early 90’s and I feel that trip defined the rest of my life. A couple years later I moved to Banff to permanently live, didn’t have fear as a young man to move to the Carribean and live there for a few years as well or take 3 months holidays a year and travel to 44 countries. I’m 44 now, still active but watching this has reinspired me right when I needed it so thank you again for posting this!

This video is magnificent! I love that there is no soundtrack, just the sounds of the road and birds. There are so many thoughtful moments that tell the story and express the vibe of your trip without over-explaining. The passion and sheer joy of you riding your (rather excellent) bike comes through in every shot. The drone footage captures the vastness of the terrain while the thoughtful close ups of the flowers and fauna bring us back down to earth. The footage of the wild horses was insane! This video has inspired me to plan a long bike trip. Thanks for your work making this mesmerizing video.

1. Even though I knew it was coming, I got so happy to see John and Mira when they appeared, and so sad when they they left. 2. That John is a powerhouse cyclist isn't he? 3. Love Dana! 4. It was fun to watch this ride all in one shot. What stood out was that you started the journey alone, picked up, and dropped friends along the way, and ended like you started.

hello mate, stumbled across this video today and it might just be the best video i have ever watched on youtube. It's like magic, different friends joining you on the route but your constant companion... the trail in front of you. Makes you realise, in a pretty shitty time in our short history on this planet that most humans are really decent folk. Awesome editing, can't imagine how long you have spent splicing this together, you have a good energy friend. But... that dog sold it to me man, she's better than all of us.

Montana Grizzly Bear Notice: In light of the rising frequency of human/grizzly bear conflicts, the Montana Department of Fish and Game is advising hikers, hunters, and fishermen to take extra precautions and keep alert for bears while in the field. We advise that outdoorsmen wear noisy little bells on their clothing so as not to startle the bears that aren't expecting them. We also advise outdoorsmen to carry pepper spray with them in case of an encounter with a bear. It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of bear activity. Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear poop. Black bear poop is smaller and contains a lot of berry seeds and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear poop has little bells in it and smells like pepper spray.
