With regard to mounting the seat you could fit a retaining plate to the front of the seat base that slides in under the front rail near the tank and add a small 90 degree plate at the back to bolt onto a the hoop via a rivnut or a small plate which could also be part of the rear light mounting system.For the seat itself you could use a paint removal gun to heat the middle of the plastic base to enable you to put a small bend in it.Id also suggest welding a flat plate between the frame under the seat just above the rear wheel to strengthen the rear end and protect the seat from debris kicking up by the wheel.

That's a different way of attaching the hoop. With that type of but joint I usually see a smaller pipe slide inside, overlapping 50mm on each side. Spreads the load out and gives more material for a good weld. Looks good in the end, just no riding 2 up Hahaha.

You can lift the bike from the hoop. I think its strong enough. Plus it's a very small bike and seat you wouldn't get two people on it anyway! Haha

Cool hoop, it's easy to use a bung to join the hoop , the same id as the frame

12mm all thread for hoop plugs, shove a bit in one end and fit the other end to it

Have you thought about or planned to return the rear blinkers stop light and number plate? Will there be room under the seat and far enough from the rear wheel? I am enjoying watching you both work on the bike...well done guys.

This is a fun video. I need to see if I can find the rest of the 250 build on KZfaq. I've done a little frame mods and welding myself, this is very entertaining. Mark, you have made a lot of videos. Pass my Texas regards on to Matt. I've only seen Matt modifying his KLR 650 on your videos, plus his truck boxes. I'm starting to think I need a catalog of your videos. I have seen you riding the little Honda 250 in your later videos not realizing that you modified it yourself...duh, I should have known better. You have talked about selling the little Honda. I have a little Kawasaki Ninja 250, I probably should sell it, but every time I ride it, it is so fun. I even have what you guys call a postie bike. Now that is some weird fun. Texas greetings to you and your family.

Should've used short pieces of roundbar or bolt to fit inside the pipe. Makes it easier to weld and adds some strenght to the joints. Looks bloody awesome so far. 😋😋😋

Suggestion; Using the space under the seat using a U tray make a small storage place will hep cover up the space.

Awesome job guys I found a awesome license plate mount that would fit on this bike and look awesome but I need to find a way to send you the pic mate. But great job guys

Had to sympathise with the welding struggle. I’m a self- taught steel sticker too, who has a cheap welder similar to yours. I got so frustrated I bought a Chinese tig welder. Have to buy gas but “oh what a feeling”! So easy to weld small stuff now.

I'm very keen to try tig welding. I'm decent with the mig and arc welders. I really want to learn tig so I can weld aluminium and stainless steel.

Remember that to tig aluminium you need an AC tig welder - these are more expensive than a DC only one. You can weld stainless with a DC.

I think the cost will be worth it, being able to weld aluminium would have so many benefits.

Matthew B - agree. I bought a mig welder first when getting into welding. In hindsight I should have bought an ac/dc tig instead. I can weld aluminium with the mig but it’s not pretty.

I never get shit done because I worry about stuffing it up. Get in, get her done. Nice. Just out of curiousity, there is a extinguisher nearby while welding in proximity to the fuel tank, right ? Looking really good guys.

Can you cut down the old seat? They are usually plastic and reshape the rear of the seat vinyl cover.

The curvy frame and curvy tank make it hard to mod to look good. The old cafe racers are all square and straight lines. I have this bike but I'd only do a similar project on the older cb's with a straight frame.

wtf are you doing?😅 Mesure the diameter inside the 1" tube, get a (I'd say) 21mm bolt, weld it into the hoop, stick it in the frame with the other end and weld it all together. It would also make it more stable unlike your method. Come on! You can't be satisfied with what you had produced there..
