Really liking the development work. Its better then when you started. Feel proud. The creasing in the flat surface is working. An industrial feel? I don’t know. Holes and LED back lighting? For discussion next beer tasting, have the bike development as a topic the good bad and ugly idea’s? it’s the standing back and just looking that gets the ideas coming. Thanks for sharing and can’t wait to see what is next.

I like this idea. Use the beer tasting videos to stand back and talk about the build and discuss different ideas! Great idea!

Yeah, had a similar thought re the holes, either top or bottom to break up the space a bit.

I love the folded metal instead of a cut and sanded edge, it looks so much more professionally done. With the folded metal the likely hood of cutting yourself or snagging gear is almost non existent. Great job I like it.

Maybe add a curve to the top rear part of the cover where it meets the rear shock. It comes to a sharp point and looks odd. And like you said, Mark, add another crease near the bottom so it angles back into the bike some. Then possibly cover the entire thing with leather, as stated below. Or some cool looking laser cut outs. Or logos or something painted on. Anyway man it's looking good, that bike is going to be really cool when you guys are finished with it! Love watching the process, great videos!

Mark, one suggestion I would like to make would be to round the perimeter angles.IE; the angle just above the shock. If you lay the bike down those sharp angles are knife like and your inner thigh would be in some trouble. Love the way the bike is coming around. Thanks for all the effort

Try messing around with the factory plastics, cutting and shaping. The factory plastics will follow some lines quite well.

Maybe try rounding off the corners? Make cardboard templates for your ideas, that way you don't have to make each idea out of sheet metal.

I know it would be very time consuming, but how about fabricating a wire mesh cover to roughly the desired shape, then fiberglass and fair it to the finished product. Sort of like Delboy did to make the tailpiece of his streetfighter.

Good work, guys. It's good seeing the ideas taking shape. I think that it's true that the new panels are a bit 'in your face' by having to be so big to cover the stuff beneath... so maybe you could break up the metal area a bit by adding some texture such as: * using checker plate; * cutting holes; * adding fake pipes etc; * cutting a hole and backing it with mesh of a different colour; * add a competition number plate. * Etc. Or... dispense with side panels altogether and simply tidy up what's on view, perhaps even making a feature of the various parts? But please keep on keeping on - it's good viewing. KOR 👍

I agree with others. Trim down the factory plastics. And cover them in some sort of material.....maybe use texture paint on them....like the rust effect paint. To go with the seat colour maybe? Then cover in clear coat?

Could use a sheet of black mesh bent to shape but the edges bent over to fill the gaps from the sides that are showing, say if you look at the mesh on a hi fi speaker moulded to shape. The flat sheet works but that bolt at the top sticks out like a sore thumb on the panel in black when the light hits it, the extra crease should work but needs the metal around it bent to fill the gaps like 0.5 inch all round or so. Couple of well spaced holes with some steel mesh behind would look good too.

Watching your videos on the cheap bike build, I spend most of the time telling you, "Mark, do this, Mark do that". Today, it was, be sure and get rid of the galvanizing, since paint will not adhere to it. Nice to see that you heard me. If you can find an English Wheel, it would be fun to make contoured side panels. Not only for this one but the next and the next.

I agree with the comments regarding sticking a number on the panel to break it up but I would also look at securing the panel maybe by a bolt at the bottom to prevent it coming off and slicing a bit off the rider in the event of a fall.

I know what you mean Mark - It just doesn’t t look quite right. There are so many curves on the rest of the bike and this is just straight angled and flat - so it doesn’t look like it “belongs” on that bike. Can you soften it or round it off and add some texture or flowing shapes to it...??

I'm with you mark it looks a big slab !.? Could you not cut the original side panels and use a hot air gun to shape where you cut them ? And you could still use the original poppers?

Put a couple of race numbers on the side panels your making to break it up a bit . A big 69 or some thing like that so it doesn't matter if its upside down in the bush or right side up. Just an afterthought , watch the clearance on the swing arm on the bottom of that panel. Have fun you pair Davo.

G'day Boys, always enjoy watching your vids but I have to be honest and agree with you that its just not that great looking. It's too flat and big even with that crease. Maybe Nay can do something in wood that could give it some depth (3D) and you bolt it on from the inside. Something is missing in he looks department. Sorry rsm8
