A good lesson for kids out there. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. If all that stuff was so valuable, the person who sold it wouldHave pieced it out and made the money. Sometimes brand new parts aren’t worth anything because Nobody needs them. Some parts simply don’t wear out or get damaged in crashes.

It's not even that it isn't "valuable". The thing about these pallets is that they are like trading card packs. Will there be something decent if you buy enough and dig for it? Sure. Is all of the stuff worth "something" at minimum? Sure. The issue is actually in the storage and labor hours that comes with actually attempting to piece these things out without running a pawn shop yourself. It's the same reason why many companies don't even actually process returned items back into their inventory, because it takes actual man-hours to figure out what is still sellable and to put them back into the sales flow.

I never sell stuff on eBay but ended up with Ferrari spark plug wires for some random model made in the late 80’s and put them on eBay because I had no other real option. Well I forgot out it and like 8 months later get an email they were sold and at point wasn’t even sure where they were… but for $700 I sure looked and eventually found them. I got them for free so was pretty happy about the $700 but then I leaned about eBay fees….

Hilariously understood this... When I left the bus company, they were throwing out thousands of dollars in cummins and international parts. I refused to see them trashed so a skid worth an estimated 30k sat in my shop for 2 years, and yes everyone I offered them to, seemed to think they were stolen and wouldn't touch them. I ended keeping the few parts Id eventually have a use for and scrapped the rest.

Unlike most channels, you didn't do a hype-it-all-up video about the potential of these pallets. You're showing the reality of the financial risk involved. It's why a lot of people who buy pallets and other bulk not-sold and returned items either play the long game, or don't stay in it. Sure, those exhausts are worth that much brand new retail, but how many people are out there shopping for one, for just one easy example. I wish it could have worked out so much better for y'all!

You can try looking at the MotoJitsu channel. There you can pick up a lot of tricks you can use to get better. There is also courses (Champ U) on line you can take. You can also just train on figure 8's, riding in circles. Train on braking hard. When you get the back wheel of the grown to a stoppie at the end, you know you are braking hard enough. Highway riding is the safest place to ride, so you think that is scary… Don't even try riding in a town of city. You also want learn anything, just riding on the road. You only get false confidence. That is not going to do you any favors when something happens on the road. Or someone polls out in front of you, also called the car in front of you changed lanes, and are not responsible for what you do next or if you crash.

I made a similar mistake once, bought 1,000 sets of brake pads off ebay for £1,000. First rookie mistake, didn't bother counting them, when i got round to it i only had around 700 sets. They were various makes, but all with EBC numbers written on them and all under FA 203, which meant they were for old models and some were even for racing use only (Lockheed racing caliper fitted mainly to triumphs). I found about 20 sets i could use on my own collection of bikes and sold another 20 sets for half price to fellow couriers. Never made a serious attempt to flog them on ebay and eventually had to move and threw a lot of stuff away, including the remaining pads.

Worth considering.... So I'm on a bunch of BMW bike groups on facebook. Some of these groups allow selling. The prices that these items are advertised for are nuts. I mean I'd never consider buy for these prices myself but I do see people from all over the world asking for shipping quotes etc so presumably some of these items do sell. I know it would be a long game and all but it might be worth joining a few Duke groups and advertising some of your harder to shift parts... also put photos of your mystery parts up too asking what they are and if anyone would like to buy them.

eBay is still a solid broad market platform but what you have is all need in the haystack stuff so I'd expect it will take a lot of time. There are a lot of sellers doing the same with liquidated bike parts. But the work and cost involved in every sale from listing time and research, packing material cost and time, shipping time, and at least another 10% lost to fees. Not sure if you factored those in your sales figures so far. I have personally found that a more targeted approach, especially on brand specific forums, can be the most efficient approach with none of the selling fees. But that also takes a significant investment in time because most forums will require some participation, minimum post count etc., before you can start using their marketplaces.

“Well we could send offers to potential buyers on eBay”. I say yes! Just bought something yesterday I dropped in my watchlist and got a 20% offer. I stayed up about all night one time dropping stuff from a single seller into my list ‘cause I kept getting offers; and so I bought everything in my list. Keep in mind we all gotta pay sales tax, so 5% doesn’t even offset our rape by the gov’t.

What about searching the model of bike the parts are for, bog stock examples that aren't selling fast. Offer the seller the parts cheap so their bike can be advertised again with mods and have better impact and might pop more? Makes sense to me. Especially the Ducati Monster stuff. Also, join a load of fb groups for those model of bikes and stick posts up on there. Stuff always sells on the groups I'm part of, you might need to do a couple of non sale posts before you can advertise tho. Group rules etc. Differs between groups... but this lands your parts under the nose of exactly the right consumer. I bet that would be worth the effort and get quick sales and best price.

I think this sums up why SRK as a dealer went bust. Sean buys things, bikes and in this case parts, with no understanding of what they will sell for realistically. You cannot determine what amount to buy something for if you don't know what it will sell for. It's obvious this stuff was bundled together and sold in bulk because no one wanted to buy the items for retail
