Ima be honest, a lot of these budget titles that come from Japan feel like they were only made because someone lost a bet, but then they ended up way more popular than anyone anticipated, so they just rolled with it.

Origins: Taking the Blum-House Films method and applying it to a video game.

I feel like that's an insult to origins. Freaking Blum-House has no shame and not in a good way.
@larrylaffer3246
@larrylaffer3246 3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu No. The Blum-House Films method is more of giving multiple directors smaller and reasonable budgets with guidelines but more or less creative control; So we have less Zach Snyder sized cluster-fricks that go way over budget and way out of control. That way we get more movies for less money. That way if they make a small profit oh well they make their budgets back because they were cheap to make. Or in this case more games for less money. That don't necessarily cut the quality of said projects, just the scale. It's nice to get some smaller, quality B Games again. Plus when they're smaller there's less things to go wrong.
@JohnDoe-wq5eu
@JohnDoe-wq5eu 3 жыл бұрын
@@larrylaffer3246 Yeah as far as that goes I agree but damn does Blum House make some absolute crap. Sure they helped get things like get out and a few good ones out there but for every good there's crap like fantasy Island or just absolutely garbage that makes me go oh why?! Games like this on the other hand I love because they know exactly what they are and they give the audience exactly what they want. (Which I guess is kind of Blum House but oh God that turns my stomach to say there's a market for that crap but I know there is, geez)
@larrylaffer3246
@larrylaffer3246 3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu Yeah they do make alot of horrendous crap but their method isn't a bad one. I really like it. Plus look at this way at least their crap doesn't cost as much as other studio's crap. When they make a stinker it doesn't bankrupt the company and screw over all of it's workers. Unlike DC where they had to lay off tons of innocents because Zach Snyder can't make a quality film.
@JohnDoe-wq5eu
@JohnDoe-wq5eu 3 жыл бұрын
@@larrylaffer3246 I mostly agree with that but if that last part about Zack Snyder was about the whole horrendous situation with Justice League I think we all know who is responsible for that and it wasn't Zack Snyder. (hint hint it was the actual studio deciding to interfere instead of letting things go as they were supposed to I'm bringing in Joss Wheaton to finish it and all that) But yeah their business model I like for the most part it's a shame they're actual product is total awful trash more times than not. They really need to get some better writers.

I know I'm definitely in the minority here, but I thought the more "anime" style of Origin was a bit of a step backwards. Like I definitely appreciated more detail being put into the design, but what I personally loved about this series was that it had this over the top wacky anime feel with a more "realistic" art style that was a lot more of a fun juxtaposition in my eyes. But yeah, definitely a fun look at the franchise from start to finish. Great job, dude!

Despite the video's title, you still baited me by lingering on EDF when describing what series the video was about before the Oneechanbara smash cut.

I remember playing the arcade version of Oneechanbara Z in Japan, and being astounded that a 3D beat-em-up could be put on a cabinet.

Perfect video. Just played the ps4 game as an entrance, really interested in seeing another sequel or a spin-off with just Kagura and other girl.

It's a small cult, but definitely worthy of a cult. We didn't have much money at the time but my buddy had a 360 and I was staying a few days with him to work on cars and we found Bikini Samurai Squad at a blockbuster and immediately got hooked to the 2 player co-op. It's been a special bro game for us ever since. None of the games have managed to top OLGA as a boss though, sadly.
