It keeps looking like Tom Brady made the right decision to leave the New England Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. When asked if TB12 felt vindicated for leaving the Patriots, Tom Brady Sr. told Tom Curran quote: 'Damn right' and also added 'Belichick wanted him out the door and last year he threw 56 touchdowns. I think that's a pretty good year.' Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discuss whether Bill Belichick's decision to move on from Brady will go down as the biggest mistake in NFL history.

Brady made a living off of throwing the football fast af because the talent around him besides gronk was overall average. Most dudes he's played with can't win one on one on post or go routes in new england. Moss was the only true talented receiver Brady had in New England that could attack defenses from anywhere.
@williamli6200

@@Draconicpegasus You mean the PAPER TIGER defense that couldn't be relied on to win 2 playoff games and routinely collapsed in big games (AFCCG and SB)? Brady could have won more with Wade Phillips, Todd Bowles, Brian Billick,Tony Dungy, Mike Zimmer, Mike Shanahan, Matt Nagy, Sean McVay, Mike Tomlin, Pete Carrol, even Rex Ryan, because all of them would have given Brady a more decent and stable WR group.

1) New England's defense specifically practiced to defeat this play, so it may have been more credit to the defense than a mistake by the offense in that the play was too predictable; However... 2) on his prior 4 or 5 attempts from 1 yard out (my memory is inexact but this is about the right ratio) "Beast Mode" managed to make 1 of them; NOT handing him the ball was the statistically correct move.

I think this break was inevitable. When the Patriots got to/won so many Super Bowls, their draft picks were always 30/31/32, which severely impacted their ability to replenish. There is a big disparity in talent between the top 16 picks and the bottom 16 picks on average. The Patriots needed years of not winning (i.e. the mid 2000s to mid 2010s) to replenish.

This was a big mistake... but by far, the biggest mistake still goes to Seattle not letting Marshawn run the ball in the last seconds of XLIX. Even NE knew they would run.

It’s the ultimate redemption story of the ultimate QB. Remember the the movie The Shawshank Redemption? They had “the guy” doing great things but opposite in New England they got rid of Tom. And he said ok, what team can go to that has the best chance to win? Tampa. Nobody and I mean NOBODY ever thought it was Tampa. But Tom saw it and that team believed they could win a Super Bowl. It’s almost like poetry or a written script. So rewarding that if you hated Brady before it’s almost impossible to hate him for what he did in 2020. Simply the best ever

shannon will admit that tom is the goat the day he retires. i can tell he respects tom but cant let skip have that win. the point of this show is to argue a POV to Another POV. shannon and skip are the best at this.

He did a big monologue after sb51 about TB being the greatest in the history of football, and I think in moments like that he's telling the truth about how he feels, the hate I absolutely believe is fake just to be able to argue against skip for the show

Everyone likes to forget that the Pats success is the biggest reason the roster is what it is. Never able to draft in the top 10 and playoff teams always lose players to bigger contracts

I still think that the watershed moment was Billy boy benching Butler in the Pats V Eagles Superbowl. That cost the team and Tom a very high chance at winning that game. Butlers replacement Rowe got burned time and again resulting in at least 14 points. Brady threw for over 500 yards in that game. In my mind and I would dare say certainly in Brady's - Billy boys tantrum over Butler cost Tom and the team a ring that day. Not only did it impact that position, which the Eagles to their credit quickly and frequently exploited, but it cause confusion and turmoil for the entire defensed who were totally surprised and stunned by the move.

NE had near bottom-of-the barrel picks for 2 decades, and alot of their best coaches moved on too. You can make up some of that in free agency/trades, but it gets tougher when your star QB is aging, and increasingly disgruntled - mostly because the HC had made it clear for at least a year that he wanted to move on from Tom.

I'm not sure how much Shannon was pushed into this antagonist role just to suit the debate show with Skip, but this is the one football-related issue I can remember where he's 100% wrong. Brady was the system in New England. Belichick's a great coach, but he has major weaknesses. Brady's the greatest QB of all time. Brady would've won multiple Super Bowls without Belichick. Belichick wouldn't even have one as a head coach without Brady.

There are many many teams without a single Super Bowl win. If the Patriots had any chance to get 7 and lost it, that's a catastrophic failure. You can't simply give away the GOAT, especially when he wins the Super Bowl the next year.
