I have heard so many different comedians especially but also actors and musicians say the nicest things about Conan. And the number one thing I hear about Conan O'Brien is that he is almost no different when you're standing within by a mailbox then when he's on stage. Chris Redd tells the story of how Conan saw him once before he was on Saturday Night Live ( before Chris Redd was on snl I mean) and how Conan promised him he would make an appearance at a comedy show he was doing wherever he was at. He said he never expected Conan to show up and he did. During this interview that I watched with Chris red there was three different times where he said something about how you don't want to meet your Idols because when you do you might find out they're assholes but Conan was one of the few genuine people you ever met. And I write this is somebody who watched him from day one I was 17 when this show first aired and I've watched it ever since until he quit on TBS.

@@cameronrobinson3933 I'm upset Conan never showed in the UK as I grew up unknowingly loving his sense of humour after falling in love with the Simpsons hard as a kid. I knew his name but it was only with the advent of KZfaq that I discovered he is not only one of the funniest people of the last half century, he is also supremely clever, kind and interested in so many of the things I'm interested in outside of comedy too. He is one of a tiny handful of celebrities who I would love to meet someday because I feel like he really is a kindred spirit and I could have an interesting conversation with him. I bet every single Conan fan feels the same way though :)

I loved watching bill on Conan; Conan was just the best interviewer on late night he knew to be funny without hogging the screen and he just knew how to get people going; especially with bill he just knew how to rile him up and let him go and would only interject to get bill going even more or to drop I. A funny quip is was just comedic magic between them

Conan never really thought Bill would bomb in any interview. Even when Bill was getting boo'd in one of his takes (I think the 40 year old in a club analogy), Conan let him be and Bill just turned those boos into cheers. I mean, if you're the guy who went toe to toe with an angry Philly audience and came out on top, I'm pretty sure it would be an insult to try and help you if the boos come from a studio audience in LA.
@randombutspecific
@randombutspecific Жыл бұрын
it's not a fear of bombing completely, it's just keeping the conversation natural. Andy, especially, is a master at intervening with a great quip at the right time when a comic might start trailing off or getting too robotic in his routine

@@zacharychapman6691 I agree he is In the top tier of 'dark humor". Lol However, I believe he isn't as *naturally* funny from what I can tell, as in on-the-fly. Jeselnik has well thought-out material, whereas Bill seems to have stuff on his mind all day, every day. And I considered Daniel Tosh b/c of his extreme dark humor & layered nuance. He's exponentially quicker than most comics too. But again, I believe his style (like Jeselnik) is so well thought out and prepared. When talking about an All-time greatest in a short list, natural wit comes into play for criteria as well. I think the comics listed are just *overall funnier* with their biggest strength written in parenthesis.

@@VLAD_P_ I absolutely considered Louis CK b/c I've laughed out loud numerous times at his bits. Definitely dark and well spoken in story-telling, however, not as good as Cosby (which was his biggest strength as a comic). I also like Cosby's style more.

Sorry, but the energy needed to power the amount of suspension of disbelief needed for this video is way more than I can muster! And I watch Marvel movies. I had to to shut down my eyes and imagine Bill's bald head talking instead. And he looks horrible! What's the point of watching a cartoon if I have to make all the artistic work effort of visualising Bill's head myself? I'm not being paid to do this!

I notice he never said Dave Chapelle was actually funny - or a genius like everyone says. For me that's the truth. Dave Chapelle has become mythologised. He is generally not saying anything much...not clever, not funny, not original, stating the obvious, a little obscene but not shocking, often giving serious monologues .... but his audience adore him and laugh hysterically every time he bangs the mic against his leg or takes a draw on a cigarette. Far from being the greatest of all time, I think in a few years people will be puzzling over what all the fuss was about. I'm puzzled now.

I'm watching Killing Them Softly and I realised I've seen it before. Observation about cops and racism in the USA. A serious topic. Not really very funny in my view. Sorry. I'm not sure why people are laughing. Same with the ghetto story. A bit strange. Not really funny though. I find it annoying that he laughs at his own jokes which seems to signal to the audience when to laugh. I will watch a bit more in case I missed anything last time but I do find him rather boring and predictable so may not make it to the end. The Clinton bit made me smile. That's about it. Well, I made it to the end. His observations about women were about right but nothing I haven't said myself and heard a hundred times before from friends and guys at the bar etc. I suppose if someone doesn't get out much it would be funny to them.
