It’s good stuff.
We’re doing these every Wednesday night at 8pm on / rkherring (along with loads of other stuff). If you’re with Amazon Prime you can give us money at no cost to yourself. This video explains how • Please give us your fr...

@@Herring1967 What about when the inevitable protests outside (or inside) of museums hosting these statues happen? That's providing museums are willing to host them. I get that people can be angry about statues being removed or remaining, but wouldn't it be a compromise to include new plaques detailing the abhorrent, along with the good? We've had (here in Scotland) Robert the Bruce's statue at Bannockburn defaced with 'racist' sprayed on it.Our greatest hero at the site of his greatest victory. I doubt he'd ever met a non European. Statues of Gladstone defaced because his dad was a slave holder. Will there be a call to blow up Mount Rushmore, or will someone take it into their own hands?Doesn't that cause more division than unity in the end?Do we rid ourselves of most iconography before the modern civil rights era, as someone, somewhere is likely to take offence?Sincerely.

@@ianleishman6774 I just wish all the self styled 'protectors of history' vigilantes would be honest about their motives. I heard someone I know saying that they would help surround the statues, their primary concern being to preserve law and order and protect the peace. They had joined a (thinly veiled Right Wing) FB group which claimed to be on 'stand by', ready to stand up to this 'mob of lawless vandals'. When I asked them if they were also on stand by when the mob turned to loot Mr and Mrs Kumar's corner shop, they seemed less enthusiastic. In a free society you should be allowed to stand up for the celebration of slave traders if that's your thing, but please let's stop the fake excuses and BS justification of it.
