I’ve listened to this video hundreds of times and it moves me every time. David doesn’t just sing the song he preaches and believes every word.

Yes! It's uplifting, they truly believe those words :" He will break all chains, for the slave is out brother, and in his Name all oppression shall cease". Our powerful Lord Jesus was present there. It touches your soul, love the tears.

The reason the choir is so surprised is because before the performance David asked the pianist to put in the big high note just prior to the choir coming in. So no one had a clue that was going to happen and then God just took over. David really is incredible! Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you react more to him.

David's talent comes from the anointing of God. He's designed specifically for this purpose, for people to hear him and say "Wow. Only God can do that." What you were feeling was the Spirit of God speaking to you.

This 'unexplainable' phenomenon can be explained in that, those people love The Lord Jesus. Israel's Messiah came into the world to give Himself for the sins of all mankind and anyone who trusts in Him can be saved. This is the good news that these people are singing about. The choir is made up of all gospel artists. Some solo and some groups but all come together a few times every year to put on a gospel concert. Through the concert, different singers and groups will come up and sing and sometimes like this one the entire group will stand and sing with the solo artist. David Phelps is almost always at these concerts since he is so popular and everyone knows his talent and how hard he works everyday to keep and improve his voice but it is still shocking. All the people with the Gaither Homecoming Concert are very talented in their own right. Bill and Gloria have brought them together for years to share God's Glory. David is one of those special people who was from a musically active family and was classically train at Bailor University in Texas, but beyond that he has a soul full of dedication to God and has been rewarded and gifted from God to sing his praises. There are many fantastic recordings of singing solo, with the Gaither Vocal Band, with his daughter, with other members of the Gaither Homecoming Series , and with his own group. He converted the barn on his property into a performing and recording stage that many of these talented people have performed at. He okso has recorded classical, operatic, and secular music and even 23 years after this recording was done, he is still phenomenal

The ‘choir’ are themselves legends of Gospel music. All accomplished singers in their own right. And yes, even they are amazed.

I just came back here on a very hot day in May to listen again. Majestic.

The people sitting behind them are gospel singers. Many oh whom are from the 50’s and 60,s. Bill and Gloria found them and brought them out of retirement. Some where rotting away forgotten in nursing homes. Check out their homecoming specials. I cry because it was their music that gave my grandpa comfort when he was dying.

Closer to God, is a good thing. He loves us and wants us to love him back. The moment in the song when the choir comes in is truly magical. God bless you and keep you.

David is the best male vocalist on the planet and has been for the past 25 years. I know...I have seen him live 11 times live from the front row, met him and his family multiple times and have been to his home for two barn bash events in Tennessee as well. I was fortunate enough to attend a Christmas concert in Florida and saw them perform this. There was not a dry eye in the house.

These are people of immense faith !! I truly believe David's voice is anointed by God....he was placed on this Earth to sing praise to God Almighty. If you wish to hear David again, his live version of his original song "Heaven's Shore" is very much worth reacting too.

You folks are precious. David did sing in the Gaither Vocal Band, and those other folks are called Gaither's Homecoming Friends. They are true believers, and almost all of these are professional singers and musicians in mostly gospel music. David Phelps has been said to be the best, and among the best tenors in the world. He has a great voice and is a devout Christian. These folks come from different backgrounds but all profess to be God's people. If you get a chance, get No more Night and Let Freedom Ring. I had to watch this again, to see you folks again. Your appreciation for this beautiful song and passionate delivery moved me greatly. Of course, they practiced. David made decisions on how to perform to bring out the best in the song. I understand that David told the painist to just follow along sometimes, and I think this might have been one of the times. The pianist was a wonderful musician, and a man who loved the Lord. What you heard from these folks (who sometimes travel with the Gaithers to perform), are mostly great singers and love the Lord. David himself is a devout man, and these folks were sending praises to God and it was their love for the Father and the Son that shined on their faces. One could not help but feel the presense of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for sharing this and being so open and honest. May God's grace abound, and may the world know that folks like us may not be in church every Sunday, but we are believers for sure and get blessed by these fine witnesses and ithers others proclaiming the love of God, and the birth of our Lord and Savior.

It was organic and not rehearsed. Christian churches in America experience this all of the time. We acknowledge this moment as "the anointing". It's when we sense God's presence in our worship unto Him!

There is a video where they just had an at home informal Christmas gathering w/current and previous singers and someone was recording on their phone. Many were very old and it was an opportunity to just get everyone on camera. At first they're all talking about their families & pets, etc. Laughing at memories, things like that. About 1/3 of the way through one of the elders asks if those around him remember an older song. None did so he started saying what the lyrics were about then hummed a few notes he remembered. Then one asked if he was talking about a certain refrain and someone across the room said he thought that song was such & such and casually - not in professional voice - sang a few words. The old man said yes. Then someone said I know that one & again casually sang through the chorus. Pretty soon the room was singing it & those who didn't know it just joined in on the chorus! After that, it was one song after another - all in casual voice. No one realized they were being filmed until after the party when the guy filming sent it to Gaither! They had so much fun and it was amazing how great they sounded when not even trying! Many in that video have since passed away, so it will always be a cherished video for all who were there. ❤

When David sang… he was singing to God… and he led everyone ( the people in the background- btw, they are all Gospel singers in their own right) and they joined in and brought the worship moment to a climax! See the people lifting their hands… they were lifting them to God. Listen to more Gaither Vocal Band… they have many great singers. The commercial music world hardly recognised them. You’ll be surprised how good they are.
